Nestled in the desert, this charming diner is a delightful throwback to the 1920s. With a friendly and attentive staff, including the welcoming owner Monica, diners are treated to exceptional service that rivals five-star establishments. The straightforward menu features satisfying diner fare like sandwiches and remarkable desserts, especially the out-of-this-world pecan pie and delightful ice cream sodas. Decorated with vintage signs and antiques, the ambiance enhances the nostalgic experience. Visitors cherish the quaint soda shop atmosphere, making it a hidden gem worth exploring, while the adjacent antique shop offers treasures for those eager to discover.
I absolutely adore this restaurant! Everything about it is fantastic! They serve the best burger I've ever tasted, and their potato salad is delicious. The cherry pie, especially with a scoop of ice cream, is simply incredible. They also offer a variety of unique craft sodas. Plus, it's the best place for antique and retro shopping that I've ever found. My family drives an hour to eat here and we try to go at least once a month. It's the perfect family outing and totally worth the journey!
The food is fun diner stuff and the atmosphere is a fun antiquey setting. The place has been open since 1929 so it 's one of the last operating businesses from Old Phoenix . They 're not having the best luck right now so if you like to support local now is the time.
Thrift store explorers, this is the place to check out! Our delightful lunch ended in a nostalgic walk through this neat diner to peruse through the vast collection of antiques and retro items. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious! Stop in ifyou are in the neighborhood
Go support this gem in the desert! Owner Monica is super friendly and checked on us all throughout our visit. Food was exceptional and our ice cream sodas were soooo yummy! Take a walk through the antique shop and find hidden treasures at everycorner! Love this place!!
If you are looking for Fancy Nancy, this not your place! You enter through part of the antie q store and find the soda fountain in front of you. Through the door the daily specials and soups listed on a board. Take your choice or seat yourself ina booth or at one of the iron tables. Don 't forget the soda counter. A friendly waitress will show up with menus for those whowant something other than a special. Nothing fancy, just good old comfort food. Personally the Reuben has real saur sauerkrautand is gooey as it should be. Come in hungry as portions are hearty. It 's sometimes difficult to leave room for dessert but atleast have a dish of one of their selection of ice creams. Afterwards, if you 're able to get out of your seat, peruse the backroom and it 's collection of fascinating second hand stuff that is more reasonably priced than some other places and will takeyou back to your youth, even if that was only a few years ago. I 've been going here for about 15 years and I miss not being ableto enjoy this place for the last 2 years. I hope you are able to reopen soon. Phoenix isn 't same without MacAlpine 's!!
