The lady behind the counter was extremely friendly and even shared the interesting story of how the Figaro treat got its name from the opera. In the past, during long opera intermissions, these sugary treats were sold to help keep the audience awake for the second half of the show. We couldn't resist and ended up purchasing one of each dessert, a savory item, and a small drink (mainly because the bottle was so cool).... View all feedback.
This is definitely the top bakery in Phoenix. The owners are extremely friendly and always treat their customers well. I frequently order party boxes with pita and burek for work and parties, and they are always delicious and packed with ingredients. I had to order a large quantity of bread unexpectedly, and this bakery was able to accommodate. Many thanks to Balkan Bakery. I highly recommend this place to everyone!
My experience at Balkan Bakery in Phoenix was absolutely delicious. The small space has a few tables inside and three tables outside, located in a strip mall where it could be easily overlooked. Once you find it, though, you're in for a treat. The Cappuccino was particularly impressive for those who enjoy a strong cup of coffee. Even my coffee expert partner was highly impressed. The burek, available in a variety of flavors including beef, cheese, or spinach, was a hit with our group of four. Watching the preparation process was fascinating, with the thin dough being filled, rolled, brushed with butter, and baked to perfection. The bread was also enjoyable, and the unique take on baklava was well-received by everyone. I highly recommend trying something new at Balkan Bakery - it's a wow-worthy experience.
The food here is delicious! We ordered the cheese, the pork meatballs, and a steak. This was my first time trying a steak, and it exceeded all my expectations. The fries were amazing, and the cheese tasted fresh. The sandwich was full and well-filled. The service was also excellent. The woman at the front who helped us was very sweet, and we could see the man preparing everything right next to her. I am incredibly impressed by this restaurant!
Delicious fresh burek, homemade bread and other European foods. Highly recommended.
Love this place. Even though the 2 times I went out of my way to specifically go m, was off a review I read. That reviewer was exactly right, everything I've tried has been perfect. I just need to make it early in the day next time. I've only been at the end of the day. Earlier next time for me.
