Best pizza in Cilento opposite the Certosa di Padula sausage and escarole pizza
Years go by but this is always the best pizza in Padula!! During my childhood and adolescence it was the place that accompanied my evenings and the first outings with friends. I went back yesterday, after some time, to get some takeaway pizzas and as always the quality did not disappoint me. Absolutely light, digestible and super tasty pizza. The pizza maker is always him, the legendary Angelo known as Giulino, also owner of the place, who for years has been preparing his dough for the pizzas with love and scrupulousness, personally churning them out one by one with passion and meticulousness. Over the years, the menu has been enriched with numerous special pizzas that have joined those of the classic tradition: yesterday I tasted an excellent Tonino pizza, with tuna, zucchini and emmenthal. The restaurant is completely family-run, father, mother and two children, who welcome you as in their home, always available and with a smile. The environment is decidedly informal, with rustic furnishings that reflect the simplicity of the owners, and with a completely exposed brick wood-burning oven that dominates the entire room. The restaurant is located in an optimal position, a few steps from the splendid Certosa di Padula. Not just a pizzeria: this is also an excellent restaurant where you can taste typical dishes of the Padulese tradition that change from day to day following the seasons and the inspiration of the owners. Simple dishes, without frills, but which reflect the history and traditions of a peasant land. Absolutely moderate prices and within everyone's reach, both for local patrons and for the tourists who flock to the monumental Certosa.
From a nice wood-burning oven you can imagine that a tasty and fragrant pizza comes out: it was not so tonight. Clearly, not a night!
All good and abundant we were happy with the quality because the portions were abundant. The thing that surprised us is that at the end of lunch, they offered us a huge basket of delicious fruit. Friendly and friendly staff.
Tuesday is the closing day of the Certosa and all the restaurants in the surroundings are closed while here is open offering a service. This would already be a sufficient reason to unravel this place, but if we add that the food is good and the prices are very good the choice will become obliged. If then someone needs clarification on the Certosa or art in general can ask for clarifications to the boy who serves at the tables and probably will remain even more satisfied with the food itself
