I always have an enjoyable dining experience when I come to Downtown Express. I have been eating here for as long as I have lived in Ventura County. Love the teriyaki chicken and rice with skewer shrimp View all feedback.
What Ludwig Boyer dislikes about Downtown Express:
This place has some inexpensive food. The food is not the best and can be dry. I ordered their spicy shrimp with spicy chicken. Both were just okay but nothing special. Staff didn’t really speak English. They also do not accept credit cards, cash only. Portions are generous for what you pay. View all feedback.
The restaurant and the food are excellent. However, the female server gives small portions that are not worth it. It seems like she doesn't want to sell the food. On the other hand, the male server gives generous portions, so I prefer to wait for him to serve me.
The service is friendly and the food quality is like what you would find in a shopping mall. It is a very nice place to enjoy Chinese food at an affordable price, and they even offer meals to homeless individuals for free.
I tried out this restaurant for takeout today, looking for something different. It's located across the street from the Oxnard train and bus station. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. I ordered the combo meat and vegetables, which included mushrooms, celery, onion, carrots, pea pods, and zucchini. Everything was cooked perfectly. The fried rice was also tasty and there was plenty of it. It was more affordable than a burrito and a nice change of pace. I didn't mind that there were no tortillas or beans. Afterward, I stopped by La Gloria's for some pineapple slices to cool down. And a 40 of Modelo didn't hurt either. I will definitely go back again.
