Was Brit Villand at Skaugum a mag?
Really good place to go on Wednesdays, cause it's one of the few places opened then. Really popular amongst Norwegians. I've been here twice now and my experience has been mixed the first time I visited, the club played amazing techno music, the second time it wasn't quite as good. That said, the inside area is really nice, with plenty of seating options, and there's also an outside area for dancing. The club itself... View all feedback.
Poor service, bad atmosphere and unprofessional staff. We rented the place for a private event.
If you don't mind close and extra personal human contact, this place is for you. Skaugum, at the Palace Grill, reminds me of the old hip hop bump and grind...
Great atmosphere and music. However the service was just a horrible experience. After working more than 10 Year's in the service industry, I was very surprised.
RACIST and discriminating policy?!! Check! Went there with 3 others, and came there when it was half full. After some time I was suddenly contacted by one of the doormen, to follow him out. He said I needed to go outside to get some fresh air ... ?!! I had just 1 drink and was definitely not drunk or had not been bothering anybody else. I was kind of surprised that he thought I needed some fresh air , insinuating that I looked drunk. I asked him what he meant by what he said, but he didn 't explain it, just gesturing that I should follow him out. I politely followed him, cause at that time l still could not understand what was the problem , and in my ignorance had not yet understood what was actually taking place. I even left my things that was stored with my friends. As a matter of fact, we were just about to leave before the doorman fetched me, something I told him. Then he just said ok and left me. At the door I could see that there was a que lining up to get in, and they waited for people to leave, or being taken out to get some fresh air. Then I realized that he had handpicked me since I probably was one of the few not white Norwegians in the club. The policy is to clean out the not looking Norwegians ones, to make room for the white looking Norwegians. Just the action of the doorman proves my point. He left me when I said I was just about to leave anyway. Then it suddenly was no longer any need for me to get some fresh air ?!! Another thing that reveals the whole discriminating act by the doorman is the FAIL of logic. The club is in a backyard, and the place where the doorman fetched me was outside in the open outdoor space. Why bring somebody from one outdoor space to another outdoor space to get some fresh air ? !! I have never been discriminated like this before in my whole life. I was maybe not dressed to kill, but was proper enough attired, and I think I have a pretty decent appearance, but I can agree with the doorman that I don 't look Norwegian... I 've been to clubs all over the world, even on so-called celebrity VIP skybars on Manhattan where there are officially a though screening to get in and had no trouble with that. But in a little backyard in Oslo, out of all the places in the world I 've been to, is a matter of fact more discriminating that the clubs I 've been to where e.g. A list people hang out. There they tell you face to face, not like a false excuse, just to cover up racist policy as they do here. I 've never written a comment like this before, but felt compelled to WARN others about this racist place! I write this right after I 've been there, something that one would have thought would been difficult to do, if I had been as drunk as the doorman insinuated I was. What is ironic is that one of the few none looking Norwegians at the club, other than me was the doorman. Either he is the racist one or he had been told what to do . Any of the options are pretty sad, and that probably means that this is the actual policy of the club. If you read this, know that I don 't write this because I personally feel insulted. If it 's racist motivated like this, it 's beyond a personal matter. It 's a cliché, I will rise about it, coz I know my own self worth. I will not see that doorman again, and could not care less about the club, since there are other better none racist clubs. The place is actually ok, if you like elder single men, some stiff standing in groups, and gold digger women, some quite vulgar ones and some who still think sex in the city is the hippest thing... But know this, that it 's definitely not a cool club if they have a racist and discriminating policy still in year 2017!!! And if you don 't care, being Norwegian (and not being exposed for this kind of discrimination yourself), you are as bad as this club, somebody one would not want to share values with either. Bottom line, there are other better clubs in Oslo than this racist club!! If you are not from Oslo or Norwegian looking and don 't want to be exposed for racism and discrimination-keep out!!!
