Nestled in a restored bank, this beloved college‑town coffeehouse pairs cozy seating and friendly, efficient service with standout coffee, chai, milkshakes and tempting pastries. It’s a welcoming spot for meetings and community gatherings—hosting yoga, theater, readings and radio—giving it a one‑of‑a‑kind, civic‑minded vibe. Regulars praise the charm and scones but note recent inconsistent drink quality (cold or watered‑down orders, missing shots) that they hope the shop will correct and return to its former excellence.
Coffee is great. Staff is super great, much better than several years back. Vibe is a small college town coffee house, you can temporarily forget that you are in opelousas

Java used to be an amazing place, famous for having the best coffee in town! I would frequent it 2-3 times a week. However, I've noticed a decline in quality recently. Over the past couple of months, my visits have been quite disappointing. On one occasion, the red eye I ordered was served cold, and on another, the Fredda I received didn't even have any coffee in it. I also paid for an extra shot of espresso, which was not included. My daughter’s Fredda tasted stale and watered down. I truly hope they can get back to their former standards soon; otherwise, I might have to resort to McDonald's McCafé!
