Nestled in the heart of historic Oakland, Skog's Restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience in a charming setting. Under new ownership since 2020, the spacious interior boasts vintage decor and a welcoming atmosphere. Guests rave about the exceptional service, highlighted by friendly staff eager to assist. Standout dishes include the calamari with top-notch tartar sauce and linguini with tiger prawns. The lemon drop cocktail is a must-try! With a cozy outdoor patio and live music events, Skog’s is fast becoming a beloved spot, perfect for enjoying home-cooked meals and community vibes. A true treasure for locals and visitors alike.
While visiting my daughter in the area, I discovered a charming and high-quality restaurant in Oakland. I couldn't find any restaurants between Roseburg and Oakland that matched the level of this one. The owner personally introduced himself to me, as it is a family-run operation. I went back three times for breakfast because I couldn't resist their amazing beignets. One day, I tried their cream cheese pancakes with whipped cream, which were delicious. The house-made breakfast sausage was also a standout dish.
While passing through Oregon, my girlfriend and I stumbled upon Skog's and we are so glad we did! The owners greeted us and gave us a tour of the restaurant, bar, and the new concert/dance venue they are building in the back. The atmosphere was fantastic and everyone was very friendly. The food was exceptional. We started with delicious homemade beignets and mimosas. I had to take a work call so we stayed a bit longer and had lunch. I ordered the locally sourced, never frozen burger which was one of the best I've ever had. My girlfriend enjoyed the perfectly fried chicken tenders with a crispy exterior and juicy interior. For dessert, we had espresso shots with Neapolitan cheesecake, which was also amazing. I will definitely be recommending this place to everyone!
We were thrilled to discover this restaurant by chance! The entire experience was fantastic. What a hidden gem. They even had an outdoor patio where we could bring our dog for brunch. I adored the attention to detail both inside and out. I ordered the brioche stuffed French toast with cream cheese, which was absolutely delicious. The Bloody Mary was also fantastic, especially with the pickled asparagus. My partner had the chicken and waffles with a mimosa, and the chicken was perfectly cooked. Every dish we tried was spot-on! I wish we lived closer so we could come back more often. We will definitely be returning when we're in the area again.
CLOSED!!! What has changed in Oakland? Tolly's, in historic Oakland is now Skog's, one of the newest happenings and worth the short side trip off of I-5 for a culinary experience at a fair price. There is more to enjoy then eating. The outdoor space iswelcoming, covered, and beautiful. Tolly's historic beauty and delightful décor is retained by the owners Vince and KatrinaGaeta. The menu- due to COVID restrictions- is limited, but varied. The quality of food is excellent and the long overduerevamping of Tolly's is a blessing to weary I -5 corridor travelers who longed for its return. The coffee by Illy's was smoothand excellent. One of my favorites. My choice (a barometer of all things on a menu is the burger) was the Rogue Blue Bacon &Portabella Burger with sweet potato fires. Excellent, see photo for proof. I can't wait until the inside is open. As many knowit is eye candy sporting a historic soda fountain. The double barrel shotguns adorn the doors of Turkey Hall soon to open thisApril adjacent to Skog's and another property of the Gaeta Family sporting a market theme. Can't wait for this addition toOakland, a soon to be destination day trip off of wearisome I-5.
Great restraunt, under new ownership as of, i believe, 2020. The inside is huge and well decorated. Must try the lemon drop! We started with the calamari which was amazing, and their tarter sauce is some of the best I've ever had. (We eat ALOT of seafood. They also brought out these fried dough squares covered with powdered sugar and it was on the house! Very nice gal and her sonrunning the place that day. Personable, friendly and helpful about the menu and made the best lemon drop drink. We went after4pm, sorry no burgers after 4pm, but my husband got the braised short ribs with palente which I tried and was very very good (itdoesnt look like alot of food but its very filling for even a grown man! And I got the pasta dish linguini with tiger prawnsand garlic bread, also very good. Must try this restraunt if your in Oakland. Highly reccomend.
