Pitstop - North Down
Pitstop
Description
In the quest for the perfect fry in Bangor, the Pit Stop falls short, disappointing patrons with its lackluster food and unwelcoming service. While the charming atmosphere hints at potential, complaints about hard, cold eggs and insufficient vegetarian options overshadow the restaurant's aesthetics. Customers noted rude staff interactions and unsanitary conditions, such as flies landing on food, which contributed to an overall negative experience. Despite the ample portions and quick service, the lack of warmth from the owner and neglect in hygiene practices leave diners hesitant to return. Improvements in both food quality and customer care are desperately needed.

In our search for the best fry in Bangor, we decided to give the Pit Stop a try. Unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. When we placed our order, we requested to have our tea served at the same time as our fry, but we were told we would have to go back up and get it ourselves. When our fry finally arrived, it did not look very appetizing. The fried egg was hard and cold, leading us to believe it had been cooked earlier. The rest of the food on the plate was not very warm either. On the bright side, the tea was hot. After reading other reviews, we can relate to the negative experiences others have had. Overall, we did not enjoy our visit and will not be returning.
The restaurant has a charming atmosphere and the owner appears to be very friendly, however, there isn't much of a selection for vegetarians and vegans. Unfortunately, I was put off by how an elderly family member was treated somewhat harshly by a staff member. It seems she may not realize that older individuals may not be as quick or aware as she is. It's a shame because the restaurant looks beautiful and the owner clearly pays attention to detail, but it's not a place I would return to.
Let's begin with the assumption that the owner of this restaurant is a man with grey hair who does not smile and is quite rude. He made us feel rushed and even tsked at us while we were ordering. One of my friends ended up ordering something they didn't like because of this rushed atmosphere. Additionally, they wouldn't accommodate my friend's allergy by removing something from her plate, stating that "it comes as it is." The chicken was also soggy. The only person who showed us any kindness was the man who collected our plates, who also had grey hair. It is worth noting that we were the only ones in line at the time.
Just wrong couldn't go back sent the chips back to be recooked still came back like they haven't been cooked pork sausages pink in the middle
Called in for breakfast around 11.30am with family.....was almost tempted to get a lunchtime dinner instead....until I saw the flies resting happily on the freshly set out food (yuck)....so I reverted back to my original option of the full soda as I know its cooked right away and brought out to the table before the flies have time to feast on it.....mind you who knows where the soda has been sitting uncovered ??? Also it would be nice if the windows and glass partitions between seats were cleaned at least once a week as opposed to what looks like once a year as they were filthy......not leaving out the grease marks running down the walls near the door !!! There is also an Asian woman walking around who doesn't smile and not even a hello....she seems to be a table cleaner but when not doing this task could attempt to do a quick clean of the glass partitions at least as she does have a spray and cloth in her hand. We'll just go elsewhere to a nice cafe instead next time.... Dare i mention the staff they could also do with a lesson in friendliness and manners when dealing with the public.....
