Amazing little café in the valley of the Blue Ridge. A unique discovery safe. With my wife and son stopped for early lunch and were glad to have a table before they were a little more busy. There is not much space, but this adds so much of the charm for this scenic café and food. What Janie dislikes about Basic Necessities:
I recently had dinner at this place and it truly is a hidden gem. They don't serve fast food here, everything is made to order. The soups are delicious and the service is quick and extremely friendly. If you're looking for a unique spot to enjoy a meal, buy wine, books, gifts, etc., then this is the place for you! There is not much space, but this adds so much of the charm for this scenic café and food. The house salad was really amazing and felt 100% more 'farm-to-table' than many of the fancier places to claim. Smoked salmon was also perfect. A perfect part for lunch. All soups looked great and can't wait to try. The dressing is delicious and I wish I had bought a bottle. A nice owner, highly recommended!
The Watermelon Gazpacho, oh my God, was absolutely incredible! It was sweet, delicate, and refreshing with a perfect blend of herbs. I will be dreaming about it for a long time. While my Caprese Panini could have used a bit more pesto, the crusty bread was delicious. My husband also loved his sandwich on the same crusty bread. The workers were super friendly, and the boutique was cozy and well-stocked. Overall, it was a beautiful discovery.
I have visited this restaurant multiple times and the food is consistently delicious. I adore the ambiance and it is one of my top favorite dining spots. Despite not living in Virginia, I make sure to visit at least twice during my trips there, which happen a few times a year. During my last visit, I had Sunday brunch and enjoyed the amazing performance by a harpist who played modern songs. It elevated my dining experience even more. You must give this place a try!

I came here because I was too early to check into the Monroe Institute. It was 10:30 am. I drove and looked for eatery. I saw this restaurant which is 6.3 miles from the Monroe Institute. It is lovely small romantic European theme. I was disappointed that they don’t serve breakfast because I saw french toast on the reviews. I ended up with quiches.
