Kazu is a small Asian fusion restaurant in Montreal that offers delicious and flavorful dishes. While the wait can be long and the seating tight, the food is well worth it. The menu includes vegetarian and gluten-free options, with a focus on keeping ingredients separate to avoid cross-contamination. The staff is friendly and efficient, providing a great dining experience. Overall, Kazu is recommended for those looking for a unique and tasty gastronomic adventure, as long as they are willing to endure a wait and cozy seating arrangements.
My favorite Japanese restaurant in Montreal. The flavors hit the right spot! My favorite is the bibimbap. I also love the chicken skin skewers (yakitori). The shrimp burger was pretty filling too. They have really nice dessert options, too. The service is good. I do think the restaurant is a bit congested. The tables are very close to each other, so you can hear another's conversations. Not very comfortable seating as well. This place opens in the evening and closes early as well. I would prefer going early cause in the first few hours of service, they run out of their items in their specialty menu.
I’ve lived in Montreal for over a decade and have always been curious as to why this place is so popular with its lines. Today, I understood why. We came right after their summer vacay so I was expecting it to be busy and of course, as always it was. The wait in the rain was well worth it. We were here for our anniversary dinner and we were so lucky to get the bar seating, seeing Chef Kazuo Akutsu and his team manoeuvre in its tiny kitchen. He paid extra attention to his customers and you can see how proud he is of his food. I enjoyed every food, from the Yakitori, chicken Gyoza, Okonomiyaki (so good, reminds me of another street snack in Indonesia, but refined). I had the 48 hours pork bowl, with curry that was super filling and amazing! My wife had the Chirashi-zushi and the fish was incredibly fresh and amazing. My favourite was being able to finally try Plum Wine, it was INCREDIBLE!Line gets longer as the night dawns, we got here at 6 and waited 30 mins max. Thanks the chef for his amazing creativity and well balanced food. Don’t wonder no more about the line, join it.
One of the better Japanese restaurants downtown, just come early because wait times are long, this place is seriously popular for a reason. The food is the closest I 've come to finding 'real ' thing outside of Japan and it 's absolutely amazingThe only drawback is service can be a little slow because of the sheer popularity of the place.Food is also super affordable, I paid $60 in total for 2 meals and some sides
The food was honestly some of the best flavours i’ve had in Canada. we tried the gyoza, lamb chops, bibimbap bowl, and bonemarrow croquettes. the dumplings were average but everything else was juicy and delicious, an absolute must try in Montreal. went back there recently, and it’s closed until august 9th unfortunately. i must warn you, the lines and wait times tend to be very long and the service is not very smiley as the staff is very efficiency oriented.Dietary restrictions: many vegetarian options. you can also see the chefs cooking and there is no cross contamination of meats (i.e chicken and pork on the same grill)
A must go to restaurant!!! They are the nicest people ever! They are super understanding when it comes to allergies. And the food is so flavorful and feels like you’re in Japan. You feel like you’re at home. I came here from the United States, and I would honestly fly back to Canada just to come back and eat here again. We came in 30 minutes before they closed and they were still were kind and sweet! We’re sorry we came here late, but thank you so much for the amazing service and food.
