The best BBQ in Monroe can be found just north of town on Highway 165. This restaurant is located just south of Sterlington and offers a menu that won't disappoint. The ribs are particularly outstanding, with the option to add your own BBQ sauce to the dry-rubbed meat. The green beans and real onion rings are also delicious. Normally not in this part of town so decided to stop in for lunch. Two of us, we had the pulled pork and chicken, with slaw, baked beans and onion rings. The pork loin was good and moist with good seasonings. Did not need any BBQ sauce, but wanted to taste the house sauce and it was very good. The recent price increases at this restaurant feel excessive and like they are taking advantage of customers. While I understand the impact of inflation, the extent of the price hikes seems unreasonable.
My mother lives nearby, so we were searching for a restaurant to take her. I didn't have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. The brisket po boy was fantastic and the gravy was outstanding! My children really enjoyed the rib sandwiches and twice baked potato salad. We will definitely return whenever we're in town. I deducted a star when I noticed I was charged for tap water.
The service was good, and the atmosphere was decent. It always seems like they are never finished with remodeling. The 2 meat plate included brisket that was dry and bland, seeming to be reheated rather than fresh. The ribs were tender and had good flavor. The twice baked potato salad and chips were very good. The second 2 meat plate had the same issues with the brisket being dry and bland, the sausage was okay but missing something, and the okra had no flavor and was bland as well. Adding BBQ sauce to the brisket didn't help much as the BBQ sauce tasted like a ranch style bean base. It would be better to have a few options for BBQ sauce. The bread was chewy and had an odd oily taste. For a total of $95, including tip for 2 people, the quality needs to be better. We were thankful for a $25 gift card. We may consider trying dinner to compare quality in the future, but it will be awhile before we do.

My husband and I travel so we came home to visit and my daughter wanted to come here to eat. Glad we did it was so amazing! I had pulled pork, sausage and tater salad. Man it was delicious ?Service was great as well!! Definitely a 10/10 for me and I will be going back!!
