Was baris evrim d at Chowking a mag?
This fast food spot may seem unassuming, but the food is surprisingly delicious. The sauce and garlic on the shrimp are just right and complement the plain rice beautifully. However, the atmosphere leaves something to be desired. View all feedback.
What Milagros S dislikes about Chowking:
This was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I ended up spending over $80 before realizing there was an online discount that the cashier had never mentioned to me. While I was eating, I noticed that all the other customers were receiving red balloons, but I didn’t get one while sitting at my table. I found that to be quite rude! View all feedback.
On a hot day, anything cold is good. But this halo-halo was on another level. Textures and flavors took my mind off the heat. The Lumpiang Shanghai looked a lot different in person than it did on the picture un on the menu which was a bummer. However, that didn't stop us from eating them. The service was fast considering the line was 6 to 7 persons deep for the time I waited for my order to be ready for pickup. Can easily see myself making the drive back for this heat-relieving treat.
Yeah this place solidifies my belief that the only good Filipino food is Jollibee and Valerio's. Everything else kinda sucks, low tier cuisine imo. The only reason it's not getting a 1 star review is the Siopao. So Chowking is supposed to be Filipino Chinese food. In my eyes, it's a cross between HK Dim Sum and American Chinese food, but a worse version of both. I got a two entree combo meal which came with fried chicken and sweet and sour pork. The fried chicken was awful, much worse than Jollibee's incredible ChickenJoy. I had my hopes up because of my good experience with Jollibee, but Chowking's fried chicken was dry, bland, and not very crispy. The sweet and sour pork was also lacking. It was also dry and soggy, if that makes sense. The breading was not crispy because it's been out for a while, and the meat inside had no juice at all. It reminded me of the deli orange chicken that's been sitting out for a while at Ranch 99. I wanted to get pancit canton with my combo, but they were out of pancit so I had to get white rice. White rice was fine, but I was disappointed that I couldn't get the pancit, as that is one of my favorite Filipino foods. Unlucky. The combo also came with a single dinky sesame ball. It was terrible as well, you could tell that it's been out for a while because it was soggy, greasy, and deflating into itself. I wanted to try more of their menu, so I randomly ordered a carne asada siopao (basically a Chinese steamed BBQ pork bun). It was quite good! Just about traditional Dim Sum quality. This is the only thing that I would get again if I were to ever come back. Looking back, I lost faith in Filipino food. Chowking was a huge disappointment and I don't think I'll come back.
Good food, bad customer service. The pancit canton is very delicious especially with siopao sauce! The kalamansi drink is very refreshing and has a good taste. However, rude women workers who talk about you in front of your face because they think you do not know the language. Just because I ordered in English does not mean I don't speak Tagalog.
As a restaurant child to Chinese immigrants, I've done my homework holed up in the storage closet of a dim sum restaurant, a take out joint, a Chinese bbq store, and a sushi restaurant. All that to say I've eaten a LOT of Chinese food as an ABC.And I gotta say, the food at Chowking is solid. I tried a little bit of everything: Beef wonton noodle soup Chinese fried chicken Siao mai (siu mai) Siopao Thai teaThe Thai tea was sweet and hit the spot with the foods I was eating, but the boba wasn't great. The siaopao had a soft outer bao, but the filling was a little too soft for me. The siu mai was great! Savory, springy, and had a great texture. The fried chicken totally satisfied my fried chicken craving. I'm thankful they let me purchase a single piece a la carte.Lastly, the beef wonton soup was reminiscent of Hong Kong beef stew. The soup was a little strong, but the flavors were definitely there. The noodles were nice and bouncy. HOWEVER, there was a LOT of cabbage. It was almost half the bowl, and I wasn't a fan. And... For a wonton noodle soup, there was only one wonton. ??? The one wonton I ate was pretty decent. The filling was nearly identical to the siu mai though.Parking lot is kinda chaotic, but not the worst.
Every time I go they out of stock and the ambiance of the place are not totally good.
