What Hailie Wehner dislikes about Cellarman's Ale House:
I’m not making this about the vax. But there’s nothing on their website that says you need to be Vaxed, nor are there any signs to tell customers otherwise, we waited 1 1/2 hrs cuz for some reason they opened at 4pm. Yah nah thanks View all feedback.
Right on Main st Midland, set back in an alley, all good...selection of drinks, good basic pub food. Visited many times, no complaints.
We recently went to this restaurant for dinner with our adult son. Great memories of excellent dinners here and had not been in years. Waited for service and my husband finally went to the bar to request service. Then we received a menu and waited and finally were able to order beers. Worst draft I have ever had. Cracked Canoe was basically flat! Ordered deep fried mushrooms which were ok but the calamari was totally pathetic. Little tiny rings that were so tough one was inedible--it was like a plastic washer. Our meals arrived and the jambalaya were good but the alfredo was very bland. The waiter did not come back and ask us how are meals wereor if we wanted anything else. My husband went to the bar and asked to pay. Despite all of the above he still left a decent ti.Not sure why.
We took our family here last Friday evening. It took a circle around King Street to find it, but it was worth it. Small pub with good menu and a variety of great beers. We really enjoyed the fish and chip special. Great price and delicious haddock fish. Our grown children enjoyed the shepard's pie and a Ceasar's wrap. Very busy, but good service and smiles to go around. We enjoyed this new find and hope to return next year when we vacation near Midland, again.
- Wings (deliciously saucy with a variety of flavors) - Mushroom ragu salad (fresh ingredients and very tasty) - Philly steak (the bun could have been better, but the meat was excellent, and it had authentic nacho cheese—just like in Philly) - Liver and onions (tender and juicy, not dry at all) In addition to the great food, the service was outstanding. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The only downside to our evenings was a toddler at the table next to us who screamed for about half an hour one night. Fortunately, the quality of the beer made up for it!
We'd finished a little bike ride around the area, and we were kinda fishing around for dinner options. Yelp actually didn't show this one as really being close, but I found it on Google Maps although the location is still a little bit off. It's set back a little bit from the street, down an alley. Inside, the decor is your typical pub decor. It was late afternoon, near the end of cottage season, so it wasn't incredibly busy. They've got a good selection of beer on tap, some micro and some macro. We ordered a couple of beers and a poutine. The poutine was pretty good. They use shredded cheese, but their fries were pretty great nice and fresh and crispy, and a good gravy. Unfortunately, it went a little downhill from there. It wasn't really the food itself, it was the portion size. Lee ordered the steak and mushroom pot pie and the amount of food in it was pretty bad. The bowl was maybe one third full, with a bit of puff pastry on top. It was good, and he liked it, but for $16, it was not a very good value for the money. A similar story with my fish and chips. It was a pretty tiny piece of fish, and a lot of fries, and it tasted well enough, but I'm glad we ordered the poutine, otherwise we would have been pretty hungry at the end. So go to this place for some beers and snacks, maybe not for a full meal.
