Tucked into a basement, this chef-driven tavern serves an adventurous, upscale pub menu — standout bacon burgers, enormous pork chops, tender short ribs and must-try Brussels sprouts — backed by 19 taps and reliable takeout. The vibe is cozy and vibrant on cool nights but can feel uncomfortably warm in summer. Staff are often friendly and attentive, though execution and service can be inconsistent, with occasional slow service, pricing confusion and rare food-quality issues. Expect $20–30 per person: great food with slightly uneven service.
The menu offered a wide range of craft beers, which you can browse on your phone. One of the specials that day was six sea scallops pan-seared with bacon and served on a bed of balsamic vinegar greens, and we absolutely loved it! My wife ordered the SHRIMP N GRITS, which included shrimp, spicy Tasso ham, cream, polenta, garlic butter, and Creole spices. It packed a nice amount of heat, and she thoroughly enjoyed it! I opted for the renowned BACON BURGER, topped with bacon, mushrooms, smoked gouda, and garlic aioli, all on a brioche bun. This may well be the best burger I’ve ever had, and I consider myself quite the foodie! It was accompanied by Celtic fries, which had the skin on and were evidently double-fried Belgian-style—simply fantastic! The staff was exceptional—knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely concerned about our satisfaction. They worked effectively as a team, with five ladies ensuring that all customers were happy. I can confidently say that I will be returning to Celtic Cavern!
1st time visit. Varied menu. Not pub food. Surely not classic Irish fare. Upscale menu but reasonable priced. Chef prepared. 19 taps, great staff. Will be back for sure!
I came across all the fantastic reviews online and felt compelled to check this place out. I was not let down. The food was excellent, particularly the artisan meat and cheese appetizers. This is definitely the spot for quality beer, and they always have Guinness on tap. I also appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and the attentive service from our servers during our visit.
Good spot, but I expected it to be cool, being in a basement. Went in a hot summer day and it was so warm we only stayed for a drink. Great menu though and would definitely come back, though only after the weather cools off. Update: went back in Novemberand had a very good experience. Cozy night out on a cold and rainy fall night.
Saw all the great reviews online and decided I had to try this place out. I wasn't disappointed. The food was great especially the artisan meat and cheese appetizers. This is THE place to get good beer, and they always have Guinness on draft. Iappreciated the friendly atmosphere and the attentiveness our servers provided us on the evening we went.
