What User dislikes about Mellow Beans:
Do not go here. I was served moldy bread. On the surface it was almost impossible to spot (other than feeling a bit stale), but the taste was basically identical to moldy cheese. Visited on a Saturday morning when other spots had long wait times. Located in a quiet part of town, Mellow Beans offers excellent food with flavorful and hearty portions. The breakfast menu is fantastic! Highly recommended. Service: Dine-in Meal type: Brunch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
This is my go-to spot for coffee and occasional breakfast in the mornings. It's always bustling, which is proof of its quality. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $1–20
Avoid this place. I was served bread that was moldy. It was hard to notice at first—just a little stale to the touch—but the taste was unmistakably like moldy cheese. On top of that, there was a bird flying around inside the café that the staff completely ignored and seemed indifferent to. If that wasn’t enough, there was no heating, and it was freezing cold inside. It’s actually surprising the bread spoiled at all when the temperature felt as cold as a fridge. Edit: Since their response was basically a denial, I want to emphasize again that I’m absolutely sure the bread was moldy. Normal sourdough does not taste like sharp, astringent blue cheese. An apology would be more appropriate than trying to gaslight customers.
