I was excited to try a new restaurant that my wife had heard great things about. We were impressed by the decor as soon as we walked in. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. We are in from out of town with family (we live in Paris France and just had the most wonderful dinner at Scenic Root. From the moment we arrived it was a warm and welcoming experience. We started with delicious margaritas and Apérol spritz with an assortment of appetizers of fried calamari fried pickles pork dumplings small clams greens and sausage ALL were divine! We were a lively group of 10 and never had to wait long for drinks food or water really sweet, professional and exceptional wait staff! Our entrées were varied from the coconut shrimp curry (yum! skirt steak pork tenderloin and the burger. Portions are large and we brought what we couldn?t finish home. Everyone was thrilled with their food, which is a HUGE feat as we are picky discerning food people! The chef even came out to say hello knowing how happy we were with everything. We highly recommend Scenic Root and will be sure to come back when we are in town. BRAVO!
Good food. Tried their salmon BLT and it was very good. Steamed clams for the appetizer and a decadent lemon jumbled cake! One of the employees makes it! Good service and reasonable prices.
My wife and I went to this restaurant for a special dinner a few weeks ago. While some people may appreciate the ambiance of a quiet, dimly lit restaurant, we were seated at a table that was so dark we couldn't even read the menus. The lighting above the tables was positioned towards the walls, making it difficult for us to see. We noticed an open table nearby with better lighting and asked if we could move there, but the waitress said they thought it was reserved, even though it was the same size as our table. We requested to be moved to other available tables, explaining that our current table was too dark to read the menu. The waitress suggested we sit at the bar instead. Not wanting to cause any trouble, we agreed and went to the bar. The bartender asked us for our drink orders, but then informed us that they had run out of the drink I had requested. Before I could choose something else, she walked away and started chatting with co-workers. Feeling ignored, we realized that the staff's gossip was taking priority over attending to customers. Since we hadn't even placed an order yet, we decided to leave and went to enjoy a wonderful dinner at a different restaurant.
A few weeks ago, my wife and I celebrated our anniversary at this restaurant. While a quieter, dimly lit atmosphere can be nice, we were seated at a table that was so dark we couldn’t even read our menus. The nearest light was over a different table, making it quite frustrating. We noticed an open table nearby with better lighting and asked if we could move there, but the waitress informed us it was reserved, even though it was the same size as ours. We then inquired about other available tables, explaining that our current table was too dark for us to read the menu, but they only suggested we move to the bar. We're not particularly picky, so we accepted and relocated there. When the bartender came over to take our drink orders, I made my selection, only to be told that the keg had been emptied. Before I could suggest an alternative, she walked away to chat with her co-workers instead. After a few minutes of being ignored and realizing that their conversation was taking precedence over serving us, we decided to leave and found a great dinner elsewhere.
The ambiance was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the waitstaff were knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. The service was excellent, the prices were reasonable, and the portion sizes were just right. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there, and we absolutely loved it! We even enjoyed a romantic stroll around the swan pond afterward. I highly recommend this restaurant!
