What FIN2world dislikes about Le Café:
We had the menu del dia, which was excellent value for money (we couldn't believe the wine and coffee was included in that price). Clientele was mostly local business people but we receive good service partly in english. Especially the menestre soup for starter was packed with flavour and enough crunchyness. The food is really good, great mediterranean dishes. It has a daily menu that has a very reasonable price, especially for the quality of the food.
It was my second time in Madrid and I was looking forward to going back to LeCafe which I discovered by chance on my first visit. Loved everything about it; décor, food, service, the fact that locals frequent it, always a good sign. This time the waitress was Chanel and we really liked her, friendly and pleasant service, knowledgeable about food and drinks and English speaking. We enjoyed it so much that we even told her that we will be writing this review. Came back the second time before leaving Madrid. It is worth a walk. It is also located in a prestigious, residential area of Madrid, Salamanca. The menu is not huge but everything on it is delicious. As others mentioned it is located on a small street Calle de Recoletos.

Clientele was mostly local business people but we receive good service partly in english. Especially the menestre soup for starter was packed with flavour and enough crunchyness. We liked the main courses somewhat less but still for sure good local food for a good price and we would certainly consider to go back for lunch if in the neighbourhood again.
We walked in off the street on a Saturday night, around 9pm and got a table straight away. It did however fill up quite quickly with locals, or at least mainly Spanish people. Service was good, we had an English speaking waitress and an English menu and we got complimentary mojitos and nibbles! Would else could you ask for on a wet Saturday evening! Food choices were interesting combinations and tastes. My husband and I each had a starter and main and shared a dessert. Total price was €70 which we thought was good value for money, for all the food, drinks and service. Would come back again.
A small restaurant on the Calle de Recoletos, not the Paseo de Recoletos. Inside dining plus a few sidewalk tables on a busy narrow street, where vehicle exhaust makes dining less pleasurable. My risotto was average, and my wife's beefburger (ordered well done) arrived barely cooked. She sent it back, and when it returned more than 5 minutes later, it was still rarer than rare. They offered her something else, but by then I had finished my meal and her appetite was gone. They would not remove the item from the bill, but did offer 2 glasses of house wine. Big deal! Service was polite, but slow at times. Not good value for the money.
