What Hemendra Karan dislikes about Wok 71:
frankly the kitchen is not at all good, the foods are not pretty to see, many dishes are chilled, moreover I came to eat an Asian restaurant not to eat pana cotta dessert and raw ham View all feedback.
A classic wok as you find a little everywhere, clean and pleasant staff!! reasonable price
We are from burg to bresse and it is without regret that we have made 30 min of road! very welcoming, very clean, a very diverse choice and an irreproachable quality of food! I highly recommend this restaurant, you will enjoy yourself. to be done with great pleasure.
Very clean. many choices. all ingredients are extremely fresh. wok, buffet, desserts and ice are at your disposal. Price modique. I went there as a couple on June 16, 2017 at noon. We were very satisfied. You can't be forced to take a drink, you can please take a free mineral water cruche. You eat it a lot by composing your menu yourself according to your tastes and you serve several times following your appetite. You didn't get stuck there, you have all your time to restore yourself. very nice and courteous staff. I highly recommend this Asian restaurant in which you will spend a pleasant moment of relaxation and conviviality while enjoying excellent cuisine in a beautifully decorated room. The toilets are irreproachable cleanliness. Congratulations to the staff, managers or patrons for this restaurant and the very varied content of the various dishes or ingredients offered.
Tonight we were taken by friends to this Asian restaurant. They explained that it was a buffet style and a little clinical, but very clean and the price for the food was good with lots on offer. They were not wrong it reminded us of a cruise ship Cafe/buffet restaurant. You are seated, asked what drinks you would like and then you help yourself to the huge selection of foods. There is such a selection some raw which they will cook fresh for you, others are pre cooked (there are some frozen items mass produced) and also some French items, frogs legs for example. Dessert is a mix of fresh fruit, traditional European desserts and jelly sweets. We paid €25 ahead for so much food, wine, beers and speciality water and coffees. Ate so much we all had food babies at the end! Reasonable food, service a little lacking, however overall a good experience. Oh they do takeaway if you prefer which you can walk round and fill up containers to take out.
I see another English reviewer who visited 3 months before us said “Soulless and dispiriting. The staff really can't be bothered and the food is bland”. In some ways I can agree you are not going to get elaborate fine dining restaurant style dishes here. It is a buffet after all. But what it does it does very well indeed. This is no cheapo restaurant where you select your meal by pointing at a photo of the dish in a menu. Here you can see for yourself exactly what is on offer. There are two long double sided self service positions, and I’d guess there must be some 40 selections in each of the 4 aisles where you can choose from a wide range of starters and mains, hot and cold foods, pick your own sauces, or even select fresh ingredients which you take to the end where they are cooked in a wok for you there and then. There are also desserts; many are of dubious Asiatic origin (Chinese ice cream? , but who is to argue. Although it calls itself a Chinese restaurant the range extends over Chinese, Japanese and Thai foods anyway, plus some Asiatic versions of French specialities such a frogs legs. When you enter you are shown to a table and given a menu where you can choose what you want to drink from a list of beers and wines etc. The à volonté menu is 12.50€ for lunch and 18.50€ in the evening whether that means the choice is more limited at lunch time I don’t know, but it’s very good value whatever. I’d hesitate to guess how many people they can seat, but it’s an awful lot and could easily be 100. The staff are certainly very focused and busy, but they didn’t come over to us as not being bothered. I suspect though that if you couldn’t understand how the self service system worked and particularly if there were language difficulties they might come over that way, but it is worth making the effort. We’d have no hesitation about returning if we wanted a simple Asiatic meal and were in the area. The Trip Advisor rating system doesn’t allow for much finesse; I’d rate Wok 71 better than average within its idiom but don’t have much to compare it with.
