We were looking for somewhere to have lunch popped into the Backerei Hug to get out of the rain thinking we would just get a sandwich realised that they were a restaurant too,We decided to eat got seats by the window in the conservatory had an excellent lunch.We realised that as well as tourists that a lot of the customers were locals a very good sign.The food was tasty swiss very good value for money.The view from the window was of the Old Bridges the water lovely especially as the sun came out as we were eating.In good weather you can eat outside too.We would highly recommend this restaurant for a nice lunch.
Location is beautiful! The reason for giving a poor review is the service of the blond I think Germain waitress who was so rude and would not acknowledge that we were not keen of finding insects in our coffee. After sending back two of the affected coffees we asked for a discount and her reply was, cannot do that as I ve already printed the bill. Not the sort of service one expects in Switzerland
We had passed this cute bakery at the edge of Old Town the day before and decided to go for a quick breakfast the next morning before heading over to the Lion Monument. We went inside and chose a few different pastries to share, and then chose an outside table and waited to order a café latte. The waitress didn't seem rude to us, but she was busy as she was the only one serving all of the outside tables. So it took a while for her to come over to us, and then when we were done it took a while to flag her down to pay. But we didn't have any of the rudeness that others seem to have encountered. I would recommend going inside to order if you want any of the pastries, and saving drink orders for outside! Besides the myriad of smokers sitting around us (honestly Europe, get it together with the smoking), we thoroughly enjoyed our patio breakfast here!!
Have eaten here in Lucerne many times! The food is delicious! Do try the Swiss speciality,dont know it in Swiss/German but it is a pastry case filled with strips of veal in a cream sauce served with fresh Swiss vegetables!Delicious!
We loved the location and the cakes looked lovely. However we were served by a surly waitress. The drinks had insects in them and were exchanged but without any apology by our waitress. Would not go back again despite the good location.
