This place has regular customers. Everyone seemed to know each other. Gracious, friendly, and very helpful staff. We ate here two times because we enjoyed it so much. Be aware that you do not have to accept the bread or other appetizers that are dilivered to the table. It is customary to serve these without being ordered, but they do charge for them. It is absolutley fine to refuse. The menu is varied and large with cuisine from countries other than Portugal. This is a small restaurant that we luckily stumbled upon. Bring yourself luck and seek this location out.
Our host recommended that we try this restaurant as he told us the meat was sourced from Alentejo it was the best. On our first night, we arrived in late decided as it was close we would try here. Certainly we were not disappointed. When we arrived, there were tables of locals eating it was a great atmosphere. The menu has plenty of choose from, both meat fish. To start, we had a plate of dried meats, baskets of home made bread which was served in a cotton bag (very fresh bread), hot samosas a fresh salad. As the meat was recommended, we had escalope of pork loin with chestnuts herbs served with rice crisps a slow cooked pork dish with clams, coriander seated on a bed of cubed fried potatoes. Both were excellent we were glad we went for the smaller portions as they were large. The flavours were just wonderful. The house red wine was the best we had on our trip to Lisbon, I can still cast myself back to enjoying it. We were too full for dessert. It was excellent value at €40. Put it on your list if back in Lisbon, we would go again for a meal.
Trust the waiter. He asked if he wanted fish and nudged me towards the swordfish which was perfectly cooked. They'll put down some starters in front of you (bread, salami, pastries) but you'll only get charged for what you eat and its all good. I asked for a wine with dessert and it was mistakenly left off the final bill. I told the waiter and he still didn't charge me for it. Absolutely boss and had a family, warm atmosphere. Decent desserts too.
What a cute typical restaurant. In a quiet street cut only by the occasional tram or car claxon, we had.a good meal with tipical portuguese food. Loved the desserts. It was a slow service but we were not in a rush. We prefered to wait and having it delicious.
0.5 because the food was not bad (even if the desserts were so-so) and the wine cheap. So 0.5+ the 1 mandatory point 1.5 Not more because as many restaurants in Lisbon they tried to charge us couverts that we didn 't touch and that we said we did not want. They did it on purpose because another check was ready and we got it 5seconds after we told the guy that we did not touch any couverts.
