I had heard that the Hadrian had new owners, so a group of five of us decided to check it out. We had the option of sitting in the bar area or the restaurant, but both seemed equally inviting. The bar had a good selection of real ales, and we were offered a taste of any one we liked. The bar area consisted of two rooms, and while the pool table dominated the immediate area, it was a quiet and friendly place where locals and visitors mingled. The menu was extensive, with starters priced around six pounds and generous portions. The main courses ranged from nine to fifteen pounds, with the option to have a larger starter as a main. The dishes were accompanied by a selection of well-cooked vegetables at no extra cost. Some of us had room for dessert, and the cheeseboard was surprisingly large. The staff were helpful and attentive throughout the evening. The restaurant had a mix of families visiting Hadrian's Wall and a nearby golf course, making it a great spot to experience Northumberland at its finest. Great job, Hadrian!
Three of us from Spain arrived at this restaurant with our mountain bikes. The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and accommodating, providing us with excellent service. Despite our late arrival, they prepared a delicious meal for us. The breakfast was very tasty and had a wide variety of options. The hotel itself is comfortable, clean, and conveniently located for travelers. They even took care of our bikes for us.
We decided to stop at Wall on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. As someone who needs to eat gluten-free, I was initially worried but the staff were very accommodating. I had a wonderful meal of sea bass with assorted vegetables, which were all very flavorful. My wife enjoyed her hearty portion of cod and chips as well. The prices were reasonable, the weather was lovely, and the restaurant is located in a beautiful area.
Good food, welcoming staff. Breakfast was good local produce and the evening meal was excellent. Good selection of single malts for a night cap.
The Hadrian at Wall provides great pub food at reasonable prices. We enjoyed a great lunch with large portions.
