Bilbao and its environs are stuffed with great places to eat it would be impossible to say that any one of them is the best , so great is the quality and value, so pure the ingredients. Jan Toki is out of town, but well worth a visit. A simple dining room, plainly furnished, with friendly service. Three of us went for lunch. We started a rich, tasty fish soup, and followed it with a superb piece of wild turbot, simply grilled. We followed that with a great chuleton. Two of us were quite defeated, and couldn 't even think about a dessert. The food was simply prepared from the best ingredients, and the prices were surprisingly low (at least for a big city guy). I can 't recommend it too highly.
A great place to have lunch in Lezama, especially if you are staying at the Hotel Rural Matsa. The food was good, the portions were generous, the service was excellent, the prices, very reasonable.
