Nestled on Clapham Common, the Windmill restaurant is a charming historic pub that impresses with its ambiance and delectable menu. We went to this restaurant for Christmas Eve lunch. The food was delicious and the decorations were lovely. However, the service was quite poor. Most of the waitstaff seemed unhappy, with one in particular being very unfriendly. While I know they may be tired, a little Christmas spirit would have been appreciated. This restaurant has always been our family's favorite spot for dinners, but I don't think we'll be returning after this experience.
We recently stayed at the Windmill for two weeks and were extremely satisfied with everything - from the room, to the staff, to the location. We decided to book Christmas lunch at the restaurant and were not disappointed. The day was wonderful and the team went above and beyond to make sure all the guests were taken care of. Ben and Monti did an excellent job running the show.
A fantastic Christmas Day, gorgeous lunch served by friendly staff then drinks in the cosy bar afterwards. Would highly recommend to others.
Amazing historic pub and hotel situated on Clapham Common. The location is fantastic, the staff are friendly and efficient, and the food is top-notch. Also, they are very welcoming to dogs.
The Windmill is nicely located for our various family members to meet up. There were 12 of us and service was fine. The table for 12 has two pillars on either side in the middle of the table which isn’t great for conversation naturally. That was our main gripe. The food was ok, we had a variety of dishes and no big complaints from anyone. The restaurant doesn’t let you move chairs around from other tables. With 12 of us at the table, separated by the pillars, we couldn’t easily mingle unfortunately. We liked the atmosphere in the restaurant and pub. Also being next to the common is great. Would come again
