My review of Pizzeria Pellone is based on takeout rather than dining in. The staff were polite over the phone and told me the pizza would be ready for pickup in five minutes. Never again. Pizzas were delivered quickly and smaller fantastic. However, after opening the box, we could see all the toppings had slid off into a corner of the box, and the crust had gone completely.soggy and floppy. I can't tell if it was badly cooked or just badly delivered. But I do know not to pay over £30 for two horrible pizzas ever again. View all feedback.
The pizza at this restaurant is absolutely delicious, as the title suggests. Despite its small size and simple decor, this place is top-notch. They serve authentic and delicious Italian food with excellent service. I have visited a few times and will certainly return.
The service at this restaurant was excellent, and the pizza and wine were also very good. The value for the quality of food was great. The rocket salad was just okay. The restaurant is very centrally located in Herne Hill and I would recommend it overall.
When I asked for ketchup, the waiter (or owner) gave me a look that seemed to question my decision to put it on their authentic Italian pizza. But I didn't need it at all, as the pizza turned out to be one of the best I've ever had in my long life.
My review must be understood with the caveat that I order pizza to go rather than eating in the restaurant. Both were affordable and hot. My margarita was good if a little chewy, the calzone perhaps was not to my brothers taste. It ended as a mush of dough that he didn't want. Not really the pizzerias fault though! All in all a pretty good experience and I will return.
A no-fuss local Italian, where a glass of wine, salad and pizza come to just £15. Result. Solid eating experience.
