This place has a very nice feeling, a typical german Gasthaus with tasty dishes and superb beer. The interior is just perfect, you don't have the 'too much' impression while the mood is created. Traditional German meals, common and special type of beers, even home brewed ones. Also special spirits are offered. I can recommend the place to families and friends the most.
My wife and I have been living in Cologne for some time and have frequented most of the famous Kölsch breweries. While it is a great time to go on a pub crawl in the Old Town to try all of the different brands of Kölsch, the food in all of them is forgettable. If you want GREAT beer and food get away from the crowds and come and eat and drink with the locals. This microbrewery serves a wide variety of beer that is always changing. They do brew an unfiltered Kölsch and like also one of the only places in the city that you'll find the rival Alt beer traditional from Düsseldorf. The special brews change with the season. The food is here is some of the best traditional German food in the city. Not to be missed is the Goulash soup with bread dumplings or the cheese spätzle.
This atmospheric place is Cologne's smallest brewery by day and it's best pub at night. You can sit right next to the brewing coppers in the middle of relaxed locals and try a couple of special selected beers. Here they serve not only traditional Kölsch but also craft beer and fancy creations like pinkish, herbal or fruity beer. Nethertheless the most important criterial here is the exquisite taste. We loved to share some beers to try as many as possible.
