What Anonym dislikes about Simpl:
Horrible service. I showed up 15 min before opening and the seating for the restaurant is unclear as many businesses are in the same place.l, and we were at a picnic table not immediately in front of their shop. I agreed to purchase food from them to beable to use the table. I went in to order and the service was EXTREMELY rude to the point I cancelled my order. I was thencussed at and told they didn’t want to serve... View all feedback.
Terrible experience. If you're looking for dishes that harmonize, this is not the place for you. They should at least offer regular syrup, as the syrup with cayenne pepper was way too spicy. Overall, everything was disappointing, and it feels like the owner is overly controlling. I will definitely not be coming back.
We used to love dining at Simpl, but our recent visits have been disappointing. On our latest trip, the bread served with our meal was stale, and the fries were undercooked. To make matters worse, they were out of ketchup and offered aioli instead but charged us for it. We sat at the bar, and during our meal, we noticed small ants crawling across the counter. When we mentioned it to the bartender, they didn’t take any action—didn't clean the bar or look into the problem—so we ended up having to deal with the ants ourselves while trying to enjoy our food. Our $12 drinks were watered down and lacked flavor; honestly, it was the worst old fashioned I've ever had. I’m really disappointed because we've been regulars at Simpl for the past year and a half, and while I understand that a bad night can happen, it feels like the quality has declined over the last several months. On our previous visit, our food was served cold. I sincerely hope they can improve things soon.
Food was good mostly. Waffles were over cooked. Kitchen was off. Appetizer came with meal. One meal came 15 minutes after most of the table was done eating. Waiter was great. Rude person delivered late appetizer. Probably won’t go back.
What a delight! Simpl offers a charming atmosphere, stylish decor, and knowledgeable staff who make you feel right at home. The cocktail menu is exceptional, and the service is both prompt and perfectly attentive. The standout, however, is the incredible chef-driven menu featuring thoughtfully chosen local, seasonal ingredients. We began with grilled vegetables on a garlic purée, house-made toasted focaccia, and chipotle pimento cheese—unlike any pimento cheese I've ever tasted. Every bite was bursting with flavor. The veggies were tender yet crisp, and I could have happily savored the garlic sauce on its own. The focaccia was light and airy, while the pimento cheese offered a wonderful spicy kick that complemented rather than overwhelmed the other flavors. Next came the cumin beef noodles. The chef’s dedication to perfecting this dish was evident—an umami-packed delight featuring high-quality local beef, handmade noodles, bold heat, and delicate aromatic notes. It was truly a unique experience. Finally, dessert arrived: lemon pound cake with bourbon dark brown sugar caramel. The cake was moist and tender with a subtle citrus flavor, perfectly paired with a velvety sauce I now want on everything. This place is outstanding—don’t miss it!
Great atmosphere! We went during a busy time and were nervous about whether they’d have a table but the hostess was very friendly and accommodating. She ended up being able to seat us right away and was so sweet. I had the brunch burger and theirBloody Mary, both were amazing and the place was so cute! First time visiting but won’t be our last!
