While exploring the island, all the restaurants were closed, but I decided to make a phone call anyway and they were able to accommodate me even though reservations were required. The food was all delicious and I was very satisfied with the prices (I chose the 2,000 yen option, which was a course meal starting at 1,100 yen). The couple running the restaurant were very friendly and kind. I also had a great time fishing with a rental rod (500 yen including equipment and bait) until the last boat. Highly recommend! By the way, they are currently the only restaurant open on the island.
A restaurant run by a fisherman and his wife. Located deep in a narrow alley on Yakushima, this famous restaurant specializes in tuna dishes. They are known for their commitment to using fresh, unfrozen tuna. Reservations are highly recommended.
I tried tuna heart for the first time and it was amazing! I was also very satisfied with the dishes that used plenty of seafood.
