the owner ravi is south indian and is friendly and understands vegan, lacto-vegetarian etc. and knows the ingredients in everything on the menu. I am lacto-vegetarian, like most Indians, so it was easy to put that, but they can do a full thial/set course with only vegan products. the dosa was good and fresh, like the chai and the suppe and all objects. The dosa and chutney were fresh and perfectly spiced. It was great to enjoy a delicious meal without having to worry about the ingredients. The owner is charming and speaks perfect English. A positive update from my previous review on February 29, 2024.
Good food and friendly/knowledgeable owner. Enjoyed both south and North Indian dishes.
The owner Ravi is South Indian and is friendly and understands vegan, lacto-vegetarian etc and knows definitively the ingredients in everything on the menu. I am lacto-vegetarian, as are most Indians, so it was easy to accommodate that but they can do a full thali/set course with just vegan items. The dosa was good and fresh, as was the chai and the soup and all the items. I got vegetable samosas to go. The owner assured us that fried items are died separately from meat items, including deep fryer is separate for vegetarian items. Second floor walk up in narrow space between other shops. Look for sign.
The Directions are a bit misleading, I called and they came and lead me to their restaurant. Awesomeness. Ready for this food. I highly recommend the staff is very house warming friendly. The Food brought tears to my eyes it is so good.
I reached out to the restaurant through Facebook to inquire about vegan options and promptly received a list. They replied in English and I decided to try their peppermint tea for 250 yen along with the South Indian course for 2300 yen. The owner was accommodating and made substitutions so that everything was vegan. I enjoyed a green salad without dressing, a samosa and vada with coconut sauce, lemon rice, sambar, and a dosa. I also had the choice of one curry, and I opted for the chana masala. The owner was friendly, the restaurant was clean and inviting, and the food was delicious. My favorite items were the dosa, the vada with coconut sauce, and the lemon rice. The only downside was the lack of a vegan dessert option. I would definitely go back! On a second visit, I was informed that the South Indian plate, masala dosa, and spicy masala dosa were also vegan options. The staff were attentive and made sure to confirm that vegan meant no honey, dairy, or eggs. I tried the spicy masala dosa and found it to be enjoyable.
