Great place to eat, if you're tired of the other regional burger chains. If you come here be prepared to wait. Whataburger is still in the curious, very few Kansas City area locations phase. I waited over a half-hour for my patty melt and fries. I didhowever receive my Dr. Pepper Shake (which is excellent) immediately. After collecting my order, I typically dive into the fries while driving, especially after a long wait in the cold. Unfortunately, my anticipation for hot fries was dashed. The first of four bags was cold, the second bag was cold, and so on. They tasted like cardboard, suggesting they had made a large batch and left them sitting under heat lamps instead of serving them fresh. Additionally, I ordered shakes but received malts, which I can't stand. After a struggle to exit the parking lot—another story in itself—I finally got home, only to find the cheeseburgers were subpar and nowhere near the hype. The long wait, untrained staff, and cold food were disappointing. I dine out frequently because of my busy lifestyle and I don't mind spending money on quality food, nor do I mind waiting in the cold, but the restaurant needs to deliver on their promises. The Whataburger in Independence, MO is drastically different from the one in Tula, OK. Bottom line: Avoid the Whataburger in Independence, MO. It’s overpriced for what you get. I spent nearly $65 to feed four people, and the only one who got a decent meal was my dog, who wasn’t impressed either.
It’s wonderful to find excellent fast food! Currently, this is the best fast food burger in Kansas City. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and they made sure our order was correct. I'm looking forward to trying the specialty burgers and sandwiches as they continue to get things up and running at this location.
I visited a Whataburger for only the second time in my life today with my family. The first time was in Texas. Since I have to eat gluten-free, I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich without the bun, and I made sure to add plenty of extras, which I was really happy about. I had a fantastic experience and enjoyed my time there. I don't mind the long lines or the wait—it's all part of the process for a growing business, and I'm excited about that. I've noticed how this restaurant has revitalized an abandoned building and turned an empty lot into something vibrant. To me, that's really exciting, and I'm more than willing to support the growth of our local economy.
The hype was not worth the wait. Bun was sub par, thin and dense. The burger was plain. We arrived just before the rush and our food was barely even warm. I also don?t see any flavor difference nor any heat from the spicy ketchup. One and done. Thanksanyways.

It only took about20 minutes. We ordered the Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich and it 's not recommended by us! At this location, I woulddefinitely go inside to order, and don 't be in a hurry to get your food!!!!
