The charming atmosphere and friendly staff at this local café may be overshadowed by slow service and unprofessional coffee presentation. While there are good gluten-free options and delicious desserts, the overall experience can be marred by long wait times and lack of attention to detail in customer service. The unique drinks and homemade bakery items offer a delicious treat, but inconsistent service quality may leave customers wanting more. If you have the patience to wait and enjoy the ambiance, this café might be worth a visit for a relaxing meal or coffee break.
Used to come here for my lunch break most days and it made me feel like a new person every time. The atmosphere is one you can relax and take a deep breath in, others are quiet and super respectful. The staff are very friendly and clearly love working here, and I don't blame them. The menu almost throws you back to a time you've never even been in. So many different kinds of teas brewed with utmost care, fresh and fulfilling food to compliment it. Don't get me started on the tranquil decorations, down to the paintings and colour scheme. Comfortable place to enjoy whatever it is you're having, you can go there frequently and always have something different. A good place if you're working on a project and need concentration, too. Always a treat to go there with very affordable options. Would always recommend.
Disgusting that nobody is talking about the carrot cake. I had one bite of it and was swept up to such a peak of endorphins and serenity that the resulting valley of emotion that came when the last crumb disappeared left me bedridden with depression for a month. The service was great too.
I had no idea that Hinton had such a charming café, but this place is a gem! They offer a delightful selection of beverages, as well as a variety of sweet and savory pastries. Additionally, they have local handicrafts for sale. Definitely worth a visit!
Bought a drip coffee and a breakfast bagel. Kudos to the gentleman who made the bagel. It was delicious, not to mention enormous. Would definitely return. Recommend.
I 've been to this place several when times and always like their coffee and friendly, casual approach. However during the last couple of visits, I find service is definitely lacking--or at least, attitude? 1--orders here take slower than most places, which is usually follwed with a friendly sorry type of thing which makes me as a customer feel OK, I can wait. Good food takes time. However the last visit or two staff seem to have a little attitude when I go to sit and wait for it, or if it takes a while--I might come back to remind I have an order waiting (patiently, not a strange tone and get we 're doing our best in a very defensive tone. Strange.... 2 was sitting outside and out of courtesy, I brought my plates back in to drop off. I was putting them in the wrong spot apparently and was promptly instructed by an unidentifed third person not working (owner? to put them over there (again, my mistake, but it was more like a command and lacked the most fundamental word. PLEASE . These are small things but I notice this place is forgetting their importance and it seems not taking the time (with the long waits included for customers to acknowledge and provide friendlier service. The food is good and so is the coffee, but Old Grind is not the only game in town. Careful!
