Marylou's - HINGHAM
Marylou's
Description
Mary Lou's wins praise for bold coffee, fresh pastries and friendly, community-minded staff — a neighborhood spot many visit daily and where new workers get their start. But experiences vary: customers report cold or inconsistent brews, billing errors, missed change and slow refunds, and even a rare, unsettling drive‑thru confrontation. Overall this is a charming, convenient coffee-and-pastry chain with warm service at times, yet uneven quality control and customer service that can frustrate loyal patrons.

I've visited the location on Route 53 Washington Street in Weymouth several times, and I've consistently asked for hot coffee. Unfortunately, it has been cold every single time. I've even had to microwave it after receiving it. If you can easily drink coffee immediately after it’s handed to you, it clearly wasn’t hot to begin with. They might want to consider using a coffee pot heater; it seems like they either don't know or don't care about serving hot coffee. Now, I prefer going to Dunkin's instead, where the coffee is actually hot.
I visited Mary Lou's on Pawtucket Avenue in East Providence, and my experience was unfortunate. After taking a picture, I decided to leave and go to my car, but the person at the drive-thru confronted me and blocked my vehicle. I wanted to avoid any confrontation and simply get a coffee, but the situation escalated. The woman in the car was the sister of the person who was hanging out of the drive-thru window. To make matters worse, she had her children in the backseat, which made their yelling and creating a scene even more unsettling. The police ended up coming, and it was a terrible experience overall. Because of this, I will never return to Mary Lou's, and I won't be going to the Shell gas station where it's located either. I've spent a significant amount of money at Shell, and I plan to share my experience with the manager, Gary. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
I visit Mary Lou's every morning and twice on weekends. However, the location on Route 18 in Weymouth has new staff, and things have changed for the worse. Today, my order was around $7.39. After paying with a $20.00 bill, I was supposed to receive $12.61 in change but only got $12.25 because the employee dropped the rest outside the window and said, "I'm sorry," at 6:05 am. I'm not about to get out of my car to pick up change from the ground. Overall, I'm not a happy customer.
