I visited Papi Tequila on Cinco de Mayo and found it to be quite empty. Unfortunately, we waited over 15 minutes without a server even acknowledging us. The menu prices were high, and there were no complimentary chips and salsa. Due to the lack of service, we decided to leave. Additionally, parking was difficult. View all feedback.
I visited Papi Tequila for Cinco de Mayo, drawn in by the $5 margaritas, and they did not disappoint—absolutely fantastic! The nachos were tasty, though a bit smaller than we anticipated. Unfortunately, the chimichangas were not worth a second order. Now, let's talk about the service... where do I even start? We had to ask three times for silverware, and when they finally brought some, it was just two knives for a group of six! To make matters worse, our waiter accidentally spilled a margarita on one of our friends and didn't even offer to bring a towel. The food was definitely worth the visit, but the service was disappointing. Food: 3, Service: 1, Atmosphere: 4, Price per person: $10–20.
The $5 Margaritas for the Cinco De Mayo celebration were fantastic. My wife and another couple all ordered the House Margarita Special, and we unanimously agreed, “These taste amazing and have a strong kick!” My wife and I shared a Beef Taco Entree that consisted of two Beef Tacos and rice for $18. The tacos were outstanding; the term “Beef” is a bit misleading as they weren’t your typical ground beef tacos. They featured a much finer cut of tenderloin or a similar high-quality meat, accompanied by green peppers and onions, which was delicious. The entree also came with a small portion of what I initially thought was yellow rice but turned out to be white rice. It was well-cooked but lacked significant flavor. Our total bill for the two of us was $36 plus change, which is reasonable considering we shared a plate, yet we still left feeling a bit hungry. If we had ordered separate entrees, our total would have been at least $54, plus tax and tip, and the drinks, at regular price of $9 each, would push a Mexican dinner for two to around $65. While the food, drinks, and service were all of good quality, I found it slightly pricey for the portion sizes. It wouldn’t have been a bad idea to increase the rice portion or include a side of refried beans with the entree. Nonetheless, I would still recommend giving it a try if you’re a first-timer; it’s probably the most authentic Mexican cuisine I’ve tasted. Food: 5, Service: 4, Atmosphere: 3, Price per person: $20–30.
