The owner greets regulars like family and composes confident, fresh sushi, sashimi, poke and standout rolls—shrimp tempura and the Veronica roll often praised. Prices are reasonable for the quality, though portions are traditionally small and waits can be longer at this mom-and-pop kitchen. Minor missteps have been reported—occasionally room-temperature rolls or oversized poke chunks—but warm service, consistent freshness and straightforward cooking make it a dependable neighborhood gem.
The owner of Sakura Do is incredibly friendly and shares a genuine bond with his customers, many of whom are loyal regulars. I requested that he prepare a dish of his choice, just without too much spice.
I visit Sakura Do every other time I dine out, and I’ve never had a bad meal here, making it my favorite restaurant. It’s a small, family-run spot, so sometimes the food takes a bit longer to prepare, but it’s definitely worth the wait. The Veronica roll isn’t on the physical menu but is listed online, and it’s probably the best thing I’ve ever tasted. It features double tempura shrimp, crab, cucumber, cream cheese, and is topped with spicy mayo and sesame seeds.
Don’t let the negative reviews put you off; you should experience it for yourself. The prices for the sushi and other dishes are quite reasonable, especially given the quality of the fish they use.
