I generally do not do reviews after just one visit just like I don't fall in love after one night and some hand stuff but there is something about Carpool that's quite special and I I'll make an exception. Friends and I often visit Spider Kelly'sfor pool and a drink or two, but decided on Carpool last night because we wanted to avoid the crowd. It was definitely a gooddecision. For a bar that has pool, pinball machines and other attractions, this place was especially clam and quiet, which isalways a plus. Even though there is a jukebox, the volume was a manageable level to where we could have a conversation and stillhave fun with friends while enjoying some tunes. Perhaps the biggest difference between this place and Spider Kelly's is thatwhile both has a younger college crowd (GMU is close by), the ones going to Carpool do not appear to be frat boys and look likethey have a future after graduation rather than moving back into's mom's basement. The food was also delicious, and the drinkscheap and strong. I recommend the calamari. It was easily one of the best. I especially loved the bartenders who were very quickand friendly. If you're looking for a hole in the wall kind of place for a night out with friends, this is just it. I willdefinitely be back!
I had a fantastic time at this restaurant! It's strictly a dine-in establishment, so there’s no option for takeout. You can select from at least 18 different items to cook in a bowl right at your table. The way they prepare the ingredients is quite impressive, and the portion sizes are quite generous. Make sure to arrive with a hearty appetite—you won't regret it!
The wings here are fantastic, and I would definitely come back for more. We tried the dry rub Cajun seasoned wings, which were excellent. However, the beer selection wasn't as impressive. I sampled two beers that my girlfriend had tasted, and I wasn't a fan of either. On the other hand, I enjoyed the Orange Empress from Crooked Run Fermentation, a local brewery in Sterling, VA. It was delicious and a great representation of what a sour beer should taste like.
Returned to Carpool today for the first time since COVID, and had a fantastic experience. Sat outside on the patio in the shade. They were nice enough to put the Nats game on for us outdoors. Rama was super pleasant and accommodating, and Teresa, our server, couldn't have been better! Service was prompt, friendly and masked. The beer selection was phenomenal as always, and we were really pleasantly surprised to hear they had discounted one of the beers 50% because it it didn't tap at the quality they were expecting. Now, that's the type of establishment I want to return to time and time again.
