The MTR Story Humble Beginnings In 1924, Parameshwara Maiya embarked on a modest journey by establishing a small restaurant on Lalbagh Fort Road in Bengaluru, India, alongside Ganappayya Maiya and Yagnanarayana Maiya. Named the Brahmin Coffee Club, it served coffee and idlis, laying the foundation for what would become a beloved culinary institution. By 1960, the restaurant relocated to its current home on Lalbagh Road, Bengaluru, and began to flourish, forging a distinguished reputation. MTR (Mavalli Tiffin Room) soon became a landmark in its own right. A Defining Moment The year 1976 marked a pivotal juncture for MTR, as the management decided to diversify into packaged foods, including the iconic Rava Idli mix and Kharabath mix. This shift initiated MTR’s venture into the packaged food business, setting the stage for a remarkable growth trajectory that continues to this day. It felt like I was at the MTR hotel in Mysore for an early morning breakfast. The atmosphere, Kannada songs, the people, and most importantly, the chefs who all speak Kannada and hail from Mysore, made the experience truly amazing. It makes me want to come here every Sunday. This is a top-notch London MTR experience with authentic Kannada food and the best filter coffee. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: £10–20
