Breakfast and coffee place. We lived right around the corner, and dropped in for breakfast two days.
Just here for a simple business lunch. A warm welcome into the cosy and informal layout, with a medley of chairs and tables, and plenty of options for children to play with. Can fill up quickly at lunchtime if local business and office workers A full menu exists, along with lunchtime specials and also locally made cuisine.Spaghetti Bolognese chosen, with rabarbershcorle. Very tasty and filling. Service was very welcoming from the waitress. No sign of rudeness mentioned in other reviews.Worth popping in if you are in the area.
Deike is a very cosy Kaffee und Kuchen kind of place. During the week it offers regular breakfast and lunch. The lunch menu changes every day and always consist of about 5 options. There's something typically German, Italian, as well as some vegetarian and vegan options. Though the menu may seem simple, I have never been disappointed. Prices range between 5 and 8€ plus a drink for 1€ extra. What Deike is famous for is the SUNDAY BUFFET. For the price of 12€ (children pay half of the price, drinks need to be paid separately) you can choose among a variety of cheeses, ham, spreads, fruits, pastries... be there on time as the place fills up quickly and reservations are not an option. On Sunday evening, you can go there to watch TATORT too. In general, Deike is a very much a family friendly place with lots of toys to keep the kids busy. The staff is nice and welcoming . The only minus point is the "cake policy"... even if the cakes are there for you to see, they are being offered for sale only after 2pm. Don't even try asking for it earlier.
I like it here. Rustic atmosphere is great with a lot of little details. Cakes taste like at grandma's (good) and you get a glass of water to your cappuccino (also tastes good), which is not typical for a German café. There is not much staff, so depending on how full it can get you can wait a moment. I visit the place from time to time and regarding to the bad reviews on unfriendly staff, I have not witnessed such things yet.
OMG. I am in love. So beautifully, elegantly and comfortably decorated in homey 50s style, this coffee shop is absolutely gorgeous! Wooden floors, huge windows and fresh flowers everywhere keep it light and airy. Fresh peppermint tea, creamy latte macchiatos, and home-baked pastries made from only the finest ingredients: pure butter (no margarine), organic eggs, gourmet chocolate and freshly grated lemon zest (never artificial flavors). I can see bottles of Cointreau, Baileys, Disarono, etc., so they must have a liquor license as well. There's a piano, a tiny bookstore, seats on the sidewalk underneath the Linden trees and free wireless internet. I'm so happy to find a place to relax while waiting for my other appointments in the neighborhood. What a find!
