We had a wonderful experience. The owner and staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience. The owner, Ralph, is 83 and sat with us many time having a chat. The restaurant has delicious food at a reasonable cost. Would 100% recommend this place. Great experience from check in until we left. View all feedback.
What User dislikes about Fairwinds:
The worst meal ever! I went back today with family, a group.of nine because we were there 3yrs ago and the fish and chips were great. Not the case today! Every fried meal...fish and chips and two seafood platters were disgusting! Clams served like a blob of soggy grease. I told the waitress there is something wrong with your fryer. She said oh, thanks for the heads up. Lol No problem charging us. Not a word of apolog... View all feedback.
However, there were significant downsides. This motel is in very poor condition and requires extensive maintenance. The rooms were unacceptable, with peeling paint and clear signs of water damage on the ceilings. The bedding was mismatched and of poor quality, and the furniture was outdated. Most concerning was the fact that during one of the hottest periods of summer, none of the rooms had air conditioning, which is simply unacceptable today. One room even had a TV carelessly discarded in the parking lot all day. When I strolled around the back along the water, I noticed that the basement level had neither a door nor windows, leaving it completely exposed to the elements — a perfect environment for mold and rodents. As noted by others, if you arrive after about 7 PM, you may find yourself searching for your room keys since no one is at the front desk. Fortunately for us, one staff member who lives in an apartment at the back of the motel was able to help us get our keys and even graciously offered to reopen the kitchen to serve us if we were hungry. Sadly, I cannot recommend this motel as a suitable place to stay given the many issues we encountered.
I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this place. Please learn from my mistake and read the reviews before booking! The rooms were musty, outdated, and overall quite unpleasant, which is not something I usually complain about. I recommend staying at Marmalade, just 10 minutes away, to avoid any hassle. Fairwinds should not be operating in its current condition! Additionally, I noticed the owner was handling food directly, which raises concerns. I will be calling to report this.
The food was good, and the waitress was fantastic. However, the owner started sharing inappropriate racial comments that were completely uncalled for and not appreciated. I will not be returning to this restaurant again.

The customer service was amazing. But the motel needs lots of work. Ceiling paint is peeling, the curtains have holes, the bed sheets are very old and outdated, the tv is outdated, my daughter received a rash from the pillow case, the beds are old, uncomfortable and squeaky, plus the room didn't appear to have been cleaned properly when we arrived. My stars are based on customer service and how polite,helpful and professional the lady I spoke to was. If you aren't looking for anything up to date then you won't mind the rooms
