What Gordon Wilson dislikes about Bohemia Hackney:
Popped in here as had time to kill and it's always been on my radar. Service was bang on, warm and friendly. I ordered the Hackney breakfast, which when it arrived (needing two hands by the chef) was probably the best breakfast I've ever seen....Unfortunately there was an overwhelming taste of oil and grease, the mushrooms tasted sinewy and tinned and the beans were not Heinz. I was really looking forwards to this an... View all feedback.
When I first visited Bohemia for a storytelling night themed “Romantic Misadventures” and a pop-up folk event, I was impressed by the Manhattans served behind the bar. The atmosphere was cozy and charming, with wooden tables for four, artful decorations on the walls, and soft lighting creating a comforting ambiance. It felt like the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee, grab a secret bite to eat, or relax in a laid-back environment. I made a mental note to consider it for my upcoming birthday celebration, as it seemed like the ideal place to host a gathering. Overall, my experience at Bohemia was...
I visited this restaurant on a Monday with my mother. Unfortunately, we arrived too late for hot food so we opted for coffee and cake instead. The cappuccino had a delicious chocolate dusting, which was a pleasant surprise. We just missed a local performance, but the waitress encouraged us to come back the next day to experience more of what the café had to offer. She also mentioned a breakfast special until 1pm for £5. I am looking forward to trying it. I will have to come back and try the food before giving a higher rating, but for now, I rate it a solid 3.5 due to the fantastic service and atmosphere.
This was a Hackney gem. Great cheap food and brilliant live music/poetry venue in an arch underneath, well almost, Hackney Central Station. Now only a memory as Network Rail evicted them and all the other arches tenants to increase their profits.
I visited this restaurant with my mother on Monday. We arrived late for lunch, so we opted for coffee and cake instead. It was delicious. The chocolate sprinkles on the cappuccino actually tasted like chocolate, which was a pleasant surprise. We had just missed a local performance, which was disappointing, but the waitress suggested coming back the next day so we wouldn't miss out on the best parts of the cafe. She also mentioned that breakfast is served until a certain time. I am looking forward to trying the food next time and will adjust my score accordingly. For now, I am giving it a solid rating because the service and atmosphere were fantastic.
When I went to Bohemia the first time it was for a storytelling night of ‘Romantic Misadventures’ and the pop-up bar folk the Manhattans Project were behind the bar. At the time I was struck by the place. It seemed cute, a little ramshackle with several wooden tables for four and lots of arty stuff on the walls, low-hanging lights and the comforting rumble of the overground above it. It seemed like the kind of place you could get cosy in with a coffee, or come for a bite to eat of something homely, with a laid-back atmosphere. I vowed to remember it, and remember it I did. When I was searching for somewhere to have my birthday bash, this place sprung to mind as perfect. It runs as a café in the day but in the evenings it is available to hire out, with use of their sound system, mics, whatever you wish. All I needed was to plug in my ipod and go. Shadz who manages the place was absolutely lovely when I was deciding on what to do, and it only required a deposit, with a minimum spend of Even with my people there we only just hit that target so I’m glad it was so reasonable compared to other places where they expect about It’s quite a big venue but by arranging the tables and chairs how you want, you can create an intimate space if needs be.
