Was Justin at Meshack's a mag?
Just as the sign says. Old fashioned BBQ. The beans are a meal on their own. I wasn't blown away by the potato salad but the beans and brisket will change your life. View all feedback.

The lady at the window was friendly and took my order. I placed my order around 11:10 am. I noticed that the pulled pork was on the menu, but I chose not to order the potato salad based on reviews and my preferences. Instead, I ordered two sides of baked beans, one pound of sliced beef brisket, one pound of sliced sausage, and one and a half pounds of pork ribs. My total came to $60.50, which included tax. They will ask for your name when you order, and it will be called out when your food is ready. You can also order "orders," which are plates that include your choice of meats and sides. The only sides available are baked beans and potato salad, along with sandwiches. I didn’t inquire about the “Da’ Jasper order” or roll ups, as everything else was quite clear. After placing my order and paying, I waited like everyone else. There’s a bench and a few stumps to sit on, but I stood the entire time, letting older customers take the seats. It was a mild day with a bit of drizzle, but thankfully I had an umbrella in my car. I wouldn’t want to wait outside in the summer heat, so that’s a definite no for me. I ended up waiting an hour and fifteen minutes for my order, leaving at 12:30 pm. The meat is pecan-smoked, and today it had a strong smoky flavor. I really enjoyed the brisket; it had a wonderful smoke ring and was deliciously moist. The balance between lean and fatty meat was just right for my taste. The sausage had a nice spicy kick but lacked the juiciness I prefer—it had more of a slight bite than a snappy texture. The pork ribs were tender but a bit drier than I would have liked. My significant other thought that all three meats were overly smoky, and I could see his point. The intense smoky flavor lingered long after a few bites. The two sides of baked beans were quite generous, around 16 oz each, which is better than most barbecue places. However, I found the baked beans to be pretty ordinary. When I got home, I added some brisket and sausage to my beans to give them a kick. Also, my order included four slices of white bread per meat, totaling twelve slices, along with napkins and two forks. Overall, I’m glad I finally tried Meshack’s; it was quite the experience. Patience is key when waiting for their food. I was a bit disappointed with the barbecue today, but I wouldn’t completely dismiss them. I’d like to try some other barbecue places in town before going back to Meshack’s, as today may have just been an off day. **Tips:** - **To Go:** Meshack’s is primarily a take-out place. - **Parking:** You can park in the abandoned lots to the east and west of the building; there’s no parking right in front. - **Business Hours:** Open from 10:30 am Wednesday to Saturday until they run out of meat. - **Payment:** Cash or credit card accepted; they take Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. - **Waiting:** Be prepared to wait at least 30 to 45 minutes; I waited an hour and 15 minutes. Luckily, I was off that day and could wait. - **Weather Considerations:** Be ready for the weather; there’s no shelter from the rain or shade from the sun. - **Barbecue Sauce:** My order didn’t automatically come with barbecue sauce, so make sure to ask for it if you want some. Fortunately, I had some at home.
Thank you, Meshack's, for catering our office luncheon. I doubt we'll have any leftovers! We called ahead the day before to ensure there would be enough food and to avoid any waiting. I could tell people in the parking lot were eager for the food, with around 30 individuals waiting. But, as always, it was completely worth it!
I ordered the triple threat along with a pound of brisket. The ribs were perfectly smoked, and the meat practically fell off the bone with every bite. The sausage was fantastic, with just the right amount of spice. The brisket was incredibly juicy.
