Was User at No Name Pub a mag?
Great little bar tucked away in the middle of nowhere, serving cold beer and large pizzas. We visited twice during our stay in Marathon, and it was fantastic! It's a cozy spot, so there might be a bit of a wait. It's my favorite place in the Keys! View all feedback.
What User dislikes about No Name Pub:
The final straw was the fact that the bar allowed the presence of individuals with firearms, leading to fights and creating a dangerous environment. Whenever Hazel was behind the bar, I found myself leaving early and opting to spend my money elsewhere. Her behavior not only impacts the enjoyment of the bar but has also driven away loyal customers like me. View all feedback.
Who knew that decorative bras could create such a cozy ambiance when they were artistically displayed behind the bar? The bar itself lacks a name and may seem intimidating from the outside, situated across from a dark and deserted forest preserve just a few blocks from the highway. Yet, inside, you'll discover a clean, welcoming, and friendly spot to enjoy a beer—complete with clean taps and free food during the games. They also have a couple of pool tables if you feel like playing a few rounds. Their drink selection includes Vampire and Werewolf wines (which I've been told are available year-round) and English Hobgoblin Ale, which really made me smile. But the real highlight of the pub was the adorable little Scottish Terrier darting around, ensuring everything ran smoothly. He even stood in front of the door, protesting our departure. "Stay and have another beer!" he seemed to bark. It was evident that he wasn't just a bar dog; he was an integral part of the pub's atmosphere.
Now, if you don't ride a Harley, the No Name Pub might seem a bit intimidating if you're not the rough-around-the-edges type. There’s even a sign out front that says "Bikers Welcome." However, we decided to be adventurous on a Sunday afternoon and popped in to catch the second half of the Bears game. We were greeted with a warm Southern-style welcome from Dennis, the bartender. The bar was clean, equipped with two pool tables, and offered free steamed Polish sausages during the game, along with cold draft beers for just $2! If you can overlook the Confederate flags hanging above the bar and the energetic Scottish Terrier that seems to run the place (I swear he’s the manager), you’re bound to enjoy your time here. Contrary to what you might expect when driving by, it doesn’t smell like raucous fights and body odor. Instead, it’s a genuine oasis reminiscent of rural areas, set in the middle of the city. We’ll definitely be back—perhaps next time on horseback!
There were a few open spots at the bar, and my friend leaned in while waving a $20 bill. However, the bartender seemed oblivious, wandering around like he couldn’t see us. He stopped to chat with someone five feet away before heading to the end of the bar for a shot. All we wanted was three beers—I swear, that’s it. To clarify, we didn’t stand out like sore thumbs; we blended right in with the other customers, none of whom were sporting Sox hats while we wore Cubs hats. So, being ignored wasn’t a matter of looking different. Any place where you have to struggle to get service from a bartender missing his front teeth at the ripe age of 30, especially on a quiet Saturday, isn’t for me. On top of that, the jukebox was blasting loud, whiny Alice in Chains, and it felt like someone had played the entire album. Definitely not a plus.
This place was a nice relaxing pub, the bartender was some women i forgot her name but she was very attentive to our needs she kept coming around asking if we needed something else, this place is just right if your looking to kinda kick back have a few beers and talk i did like it and i would definitely go back i went on a friday night about 10ish pm
