Feedback
At Hotel Du Vin's bistro, experiences vary greatly. While some diners praise the warm ambiance, friendly service, and delightful dishes like the French onion soup, others express disappointment due to missing orders, overcooked meals, and a lack of flavor in desserts. Staff training and menu variety have been highlighted as areas needing improvement. Despite its secluded location, the atmosphere exudes charm, making it a pleasant dining option for those venturing from the city center. Overall, the restaurant shows potential for greatness, but consistency in service and culinary quality remains a crucial focus for future visits.
Five friends and I went for lunch on the 31st of the month. The restaurant wasn't very busy, but the food was excellent. I ordered the Sunday roast and found the meat to be tender and delicious. The 2/3 course menu offered great value, and the French table of starters featured some exceptional salads. The dining room has been renovated with charming lights and wallpaper, providing an overall excellent dining experience.
There were 7 of us in our party and our bill was £600. Unfortunately, our experience at the restaurant was not good. To start, one of our starters was missing and the ones we did receive had cooled down while we waited. The onion soup was overly salty and one of the main courses was incorrect. The fruit selection for dessert was lacking in flavor.
We were thoroughly impressed with the great tasting menu and excellent service from Jake and Alice at this restaurant. While it may not be a Michelin tasting menu, the bistro offers well-presented and delicious dishes paired with excellent wines. The only downside was the small bar area and lack of a residents lounge, which seemed too cramped for the size of the hotel. Despite this, we opted to enjoy pre-dinner drinks at another cocktail bar.
What a fantastic transformation to the bistro restaurant such a beautiful atmosphere The service is faultless and Jake is fantastic at looking after us as always Really excellent food
We ate here on a Saturday night. Restaurant was quietish apart from one table of around 12 people. Waiting staff very friendly and good humoured. Excellent French onion soup, prawns and a very good ribeye steak. My wife’s baked sea bass was very good but quite small. Very much enjoyed our meal and would recommend but the room was very cold seemed to be the first cool day for a while and the heating took an age to really do its job.
