Was Anonym at The Glass Monkey a mag?
On July 27, 2020, during lunchtime, I ordered the Home Love (warm) platter which included 9 pieces of various sashimi and yam tempura. The host/server was friendly, and the restaurant had a beautiful modern seating arrangement with high chairs and tables. There were large windows with a view of Jasper Avenue, and nice music was playing. The sashimi was creamy and delicious, and the sake was beautiful and warming to t... View all feedback.
What Josianne Windler dislikes about The Glass Monkey:
We moved into the neighborhood recently and SO wanted this place to be our go to for a close quality eatery. Jack's Grill was notable The Glass Monkey not so much. Its a small restaurant with a strange cross section menu. The staff are the best feature but the food is over rated. We have tried dinner 3x and lunch with high hopes. Wont be back the kitchen prep beeping was constant and the food wasn't bad it just wasn'... View all feedback.
It was a summer night and we were able to enjoy the patio. Service was exceptional, efficient and friendly right from the moment we entered until the minute we left. Very good wine and beer selections which is what you should focus on. The tapas we had were great and so was the salad! The "large platters", we had the fish and the chicken, were nothing great and very plain. I would stick to ordering enough of the small and medium plates, lots of wine and beer to match - you can't go wrong with that.
Soon after walking through the doors of this unpretentious establishment you realize this is not a pub, not a restaurant and not a bar. It's a Gastropub. This establishment created by a most gracious restauranteur Rob Filipchuk who has created a wine list that would embarrass most high end rooms and a beer selection of 60 choices that will leave most patrons thinking, why didn't I know about this place before. The menu, it consists of choices to please most dinners from oh yes, pub food to those items that will be pleasing to a more substantial appetite and price point. Tonight, Thursday May 18/17 the four of us chose for a starter, scrimp cocktail and for entrees, spaghetti with beef bolognese, BBQ chicken leg and thigh, fish tacos and buttered chicken. We were all extremely satisfied by our choices and the add on was the attentive service provided by numerous "customer care associates" throughout the evening. The desert we chose was Jack's Grill Bread Pudding with a caramelized rum sauce, whipped cream. A desert to remember and indulge in again. Dinner for four, $$$. Check the website and preselect your food choices which will give you an idea of choices but be prepared to have your mind changed by the offering of additional specials. Oh yes, if your not accustomed to being with numerous friendly dinners and people who who are about exclusion, buy a sandwich and go to a library. One last comment, ask for Rob and if he hasn't already thanked you for coming he will thank you again.
Sweet little neighborhood find ! Upscale pub food , nice atmosphere . Pretty pricey wine list by the glass and VERY noisy . Hard to hear in there .
Dropped in on a Monday night with friends for a bite to eat. Had the butternut soup of the day and the pulled pork taco special. I wasn't up for a big meal and chose just the one taco. Soup and taco were just the right amount. The others shared a beet salad and the mushroom pizza with slices of tomato on top. And one salmon meal. All very tasty. We all shared Jack's bread pudding for the final delicious ending to a fun time.As for the drinks; the beer list is open to many choices and the wine choices kept the ladies happy.Always a great choice when you're in the mood to go out for supper.
Last week I went to Glass Monkey for the first time. I had a bit of time to kill before my plans so we just went in for a quick drink and some appetizers. They are located in a small strip so there is an ample amount of parking. Housemade Ricotta. First, we got their housemade ricotta, which comes with an apricot chutney, and sunflower seeds. This is served along side some bread. Overall, and pretty light and easy dish to share. I think the bread could have been toasted a little bit, but overall, really easy and good to eat. Great appetizer for only $5.50!
