Feedback
Colors Restaurant offers a comfortable and scenic view of horse races, making it an attractive venue for a day out. However, reviews of the buffet are mixed, with some diners describing the food as abysmal and not worth the price tag. Issues with quality, temperature, and flavor of the dishes, as well as slow service, have left many patrons disappointed. Despite these setbacks, some guests have praised the friendly staff and enjoyed the desserts offered. Overall, Colors Restaurant seems to have potential due to its location and atmosphere, but improvements in the food quality and service would enhance the dining experience for visitors.
Went to Colours to watch the horse racing and have brunch. The staff were friendly and service was good. The buffet was mediocre at best, the food not hot nor seasoned enough. The desserts were good with sufficient choices. Not offered an a la cart menu, so not sure if that was an option, although there is a minimum charge of the price of the buffet per person. We enjoyed our afternoon watching the races but this time the buffet wasn't the highlight.
We swore we would never return to Colors Restaurant. The upside is the comfort and the view of the Horse races. We went anyway despite knowing the food may be not good. Not good is not a fitting description of what we were served. abysmal is a better one. This is a $25.00 buffet. The food was much worse than cafeteria. Only the beef was good. The chicken was super dry and tasteless, as was the salmon. The pasta must have been glued together and was also bland. Most of the food in my estimation was sitting far too long before being served. Some of the salad was good but the caesar salad was awful. Will never go back there. I will eat before going to the races and sit in the stands.
We visited Colours Restaurant yesterday to watch the thoroughbreds run and to celebrate a friend's birthday. The buffet was well presented and the food was good. There was a nice variety and everything was prepared very well. We were able to watch the races from our seats, off in the distance personally and up close with a monitor on the table. Service was ok. There was a problem when it was time to pay the tab. For 10 or more patrons there is an 18% gratuity automatically added to the bill. The host paying for the meal did not realize this and paid his tip over and above. Also, four of the party were seniors and were charged as adults. The reasoning apparently was that none of us looked like seniors (nice try haha.) After the bill was paid, our friend noticed the mistakes and informed the waitress, who brought over the manager. Eventually he was able to correct it all and we left satisfied. Kudos for addressing the issues.
The restaurant is situated in full view of Northlands horse track. Full buffet, salads, warm dishes and desserts. Quality very good with supplemental table service also very good. Would recommend if going to the track or casino.
It's a shame, because there is potential in this place because the venue is nice and open and the horse races are so fun to watch. We were here for a dinner buffet, and the food was terrible. There was store-bought mushy vegetables (I recognized them from Costco,) strange salads, and the worst dish was the breaded fish in lobster sauce. It was the most fishy thing I have ever tasted and I lost my appetite after eating one bite of it. The staff were also very inattentive, and we waited over half an hour for drinks (that were watered-down.) It just seems like a very lazy buffet (store-bought from costco, no spices, reheated, mushy,) and it was not worth the $25.00 price tag. I ended up grabbing a slice from Pizza 73 and was quite happy. I recommend coming to enjoy the races, but do not eat here.
