A wonderfully eclectic establishment, The Old Crouch, serves in-house made food such as burgers, sandwiches, and cabbage rolls, among other things. The food itself tastes great and the portion sizes were generous. The staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable about the area.My only disappointment: I didn't have enough room for dessert. Wow! That's all I can say about a restaurant that bakes their own bread, and knows their customers by name! It's not fancy, nothing matches, but the food

It's no surprise that there are signs of dissatisfaction! The restaurant had only two other tables with customers, so it wasn't busy. We ordered a burger and a sandwich, but it took an hour for our food to arrive. When the sandwich finally came, it had a small piece of meat overwhelmed by a large portion of salad, and the bread seemed stale and sliced an inch thick - it was awful. The fries were all clumped together in a big mass. With two servers, a chef, and several other employees in such a small diner, it was definitely not necessary.
My grandchildren and I visited The Old Grouch for a meal. The hostess was friendly and kind. We all ordered cheeseburgers and fries and they were delicious! The restaurant may not be fancy, but it was interesting, very clean, and offered a comfortable home-style dining experience with friendly service.
