Moonlight Cafe has quickly garnered a reputation as one of Dover's best-kept secrets, offering delectable Italian cuisine in a cozy setting. Though the restaurant is small and often bustling, the attentive and friendly staff enhance the dining experience. With generous portion sizes and a varied menu that includes standout dishes like Chicken Parmigiana and Filet Mignon, diners are consistently impressed. The BYOB policy and drive-through option add convenience. Reservations are recommended to secure a table, particularly on busy evenings, making it a must-visit for any food lover seeking authentic flavors and a warm atmosphere.
We recently dined at this restaurant for the first time and we will definitely be returning! The menu is varied and prices are reasonable. The restaurant can seat about fifty people inside and eight people outside at cafe tables for two. Reservations are accepted for seating before 5 pm, otherwise seating is on a first come, first serve basis. One of the highlights for us was the option to bring our own wine with no corkage fee. The ambiance is enhanced by a beautiful tin patterned ceiling and the environment is clean, although there is no fancy decor in terms of furnishings or tableware (paper napkins, no tablecloth). The staff is friendly and we enjoyed being seated by the counter where we could watch the chef and staff prepare our meals. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem!
This is hands down the best restaurant food I have ever tasted. My wife and I discovered it six months ago and now make the 45-minute drive whenever we can just to eat here. The only downside is that we don't live closer. I am actually contemplating moving to Dover just to be closer to this amazing restaurant, and I'm not kidding.
I had lunch at this restaurant. The wait staff was incredibly friendly. Instead of ordering a sandwich from the lunch menu, I opted for an entree. The portions were massive and very satisfying, leaving enough for a snack later in the evening. The menu had a great selection. While I do miss the original owner's flavors from years ago, the new owners have added some interesting twists. Overall, it's still a nice spot in Dover, PA.
