Who knows a maredo, actually knows everyone. the quality of meat and their processing was wonderful. medium rare was met peedekt. service and ease were also very pleasant.
Nice place, located in the center of Dortmund, simple decoration, nice and gentle personnel. Good stakes, a lit bit expensive and a salad bar where everyone will be satisfied. Good choice but not the best in Dortmund
Maredo is one of the typical steakhouse chains you can find throughout Germany. If you're looking for something decent at a reasonable price, you'll discover this is a safe place to go. The food is decent, but not really special. This chain is throwing the...definitions for the amount of cooking your meat has gone through in a somewhat different scale. When you're looking for a medium rare' steak, here you would have to order it Englisch'. The other definitions have been bumped up or down from there. This however appears to be the common scale in German meat preparation and at least they write the definitions in their menu, albeit in German.. If you're looking for a bargain, visit their website a few days in advance to visiting the restaurant: register to the newsletter and await your Euro discount voucher (print the mail after which it is safe to unsubscribe from the newsletter if you don't approve on any further updates from Maredo. A definite plus is that the restaurant allows you to have your (dog) with you inside (just don't take it anywhere near the (salad) buffet but on the other hand, there is no free WiFi. There used to be no WiFi at all but recently they got Tmobile WiFi coverage which is a paid service, except for the German Telekom customers who can use it for free, apparently.. All in all, it's a good place to take a break from shopping or browsing around the Christmas markets, generally there are a few tables available even on the busiest of times so no wait, so it's pretty decent, not excellent but: a safe choice.
The food was excellent. I had the best ribs I've had in a long time, and my husband had a perfectly cooked rump steak. The side dishes were also delicious. The service was very attentive and friendly. It wasn't crowded, the atmosphere was pleasant, and we even had a view of the large Dortmund Christmas tree. It was a worthwhile visit. The price was right, and we'll gladly come back!
