A week on Lake Como, to us, means that you go to restaurants where the local residents go. SO, we ventured up the hill, through the small fields, and even smaller roads, to this little oasis above Colico. As mentioned in the other reviews, there is no written menu, only the verbal (in Italian) of the dishes of the day.....which are fantastic. Our party of 7, for my birthday, had Pizzocheri of Valtellina and then Pallenta with beef, veal and venison. This was preceded by a pickle/vegetable platter, meat platter and cheese platter. ALL were great and we added a couple of bottles of wine, and the bill came in well under 200 euro. Highly recommended, but I also recommend driving up there in the daytime or getting a good GPS. Google Maps put us on the wrong road/path in the end. If using Google Maps, at the end of the map/directions, follow the road that looks more traveled and that will bring you up to Trattoria Posallo. Restaurant is on the left. Ciao
The place is at the foot of the mountains above Colico with a wonderful view of the lake from the terrace. There's a playground for the kids to wait for the food while adults enjoy the good local wine. There is not a proper menu, the host will tell you what is available (pizzoccheri, polenta, deer stew area a classic) but they also can make something simple for the kids like pasta pomodoro o ragu (bolognese). Honest Family run establishment. Last time the credit cards were not accepted, make sure to bring cash, 20/25 euro per head for a full menu including wine
My colleagues and I ate lunch here nearly every day during the week. There's no menu (at least there isn't one during lunch), but there are a couple of different options each for salad, pasta, main dish and dessert. If you call a day or two in advance, they will make pizzocheri for you. It's my new favorite pasta. It's more or less unknown outside of northern Italy, but it's awesome. My bill was 12 euros every day for pasta, a coke, and a dessert. It's best if you have someone with you who speaks Italian, but everything I had there was very good. Many of the vegetables are from the garden in front of the restaurant. Also, the view from there is spectacular.
The best meal i have eaten in Italy. Prepared with such care, every dish was outstanding. A truly unique experience. Run by a a very friendly family, the mother, father and son all served us. We even stayed to chat with them after the meal. Do not miss this place. It feeds your soul as well as your tummy.
The trattoria serves typical, freshly prepared food at a fair price. We especially liked that the menu is quite small (Antipasti, Pizzocheri, Polenta con carne, Dolci) and probably changing frequently, and everything is really home made. Both the red and the white wine are also worth a recommendation. Perfect place if you are looking for an uncomplicated delicious dinner after a long hike!
