What User dislikes about Occidental:
Used to be my go-to spot. Must be new management, because all the charm and fun has gone out of the place. One of the main issues (as others have mentioned) is the door guy just immediately puts a bad taste in your mouth. No idea what the hiring process was like when they found that guy, but they need to reassess. As a former door guy, at the very least you need to be professional... View all feedback.
Came in here for some lunch for the first time and got their chicken tenders. I ate a couple before taking a picture because these may be a top 3 chicken tenders I’ve had In my life. Crispy flavorful and perfectly cooked. I’ve come here for drinks later in the night and it’s packed and fun just drinks are a bit steep for a divey bar.
I enjoyed myself and think it could be a great night out with friends. I don’t believe the prices match the environment, though they do match the stellar service. Just kinda comes off as grungy and down to earth, but then charge you $23 for supposedly affordable Buffalo trace and 1 egg/ham sandwich. Food is expensive these days I guess, but $11 for Buffalo trace had me not eager to return. Praise still due to the kindness and attentiveness of the servers. Maybe it was the just the wrong night to see a strangely upscale crowd (not fancy yet expensive clothes types) in a location that looks grungy as heck with the raise fist painted out front you know the contradiction well if you’ve seen it. Maybe I’ll drop through again but hard to say since I moved from the area, but they probably deserve a second chance.

Fantastic old-school punk bar with reasonably priced drinks. The staff was incredible, and the vibe was just what I was hoping for. I will definitely be back!
