Nestled inside the Corn Hall, this charming family-run café offers a delightful escape from the bustling high street. With a menu featuring traditional baked goods, homemade soups, and satisfying sandwiches, patrons rave about the quality of the food, especially the flavorful soups and rich cakes. While the friendly staff generally provide excellent service, some recent experiences revealed inconsistency, with occasional lapses in attention and presentation. Despite these minor hiccups, the café's welcoming ambiance and reasonable prices make it a hidden gem worth visiting, particularly for families seeking a cozy spot to unwind after exploring the market.
This cafe is situated at the back of the Corn Hall Market, which is off the main shopping street. It can get very busy, this was the first time we were able to get a table as it is very popular with locals and visitors alike. We had peppermint tea, although there was a wide range of drinks available as well as cakes, sandwiches etc. the table next to us had very appetising bacon sandwiches. It’s accessible to prams and wheelchairs. Order at the counter and it’s brought to your table. Toilets are downstairs.
Had a great little lunch here today with my children and our friends. Slightly off the beaten track which we liked as it wasn't overcrowded like some places we passed on the high street. We had a mixture of sandwiches, toasties and paninis as well as hot drinks and cakes; everyone was very happy with their orders.
Lovely cafe. Amazing range of home made cakes. Service a bit slow but worth the wait. Quirky decor. Definitely worth a visit
The food is all made in-house and delicious, with the teas and coffee also being top-notch. The staff is friendly and efficient.
We ordered an afternoon tea for three to be delivered to our Airbnb. The sandwiches were delicious with a wide variety and generous portions. The scones were fluffy and tasty, while the brownie was rich and gooey. The flapjacks had a great flavor without being too greasy, and the coconut sponge cake was delightful. I highly recommend trying this place. Next time, I would also like to visit the cafe in person to enjoy the atmosphere.
