There is no good rating, so 3 stars. The steak house was filled up, so we tried Rafae, and there was a steady flow of people coming in. We only had three dishes, and they were the venison stew, very good; a kind of creamed spinach with a dash of vinegar sauce my wife pronounced this dead; and a small portion of the ox tail stew. This last melted in your mouth. I accompanied all these with a very dry white from Cordoba. My wife liked none of these dishes but I think she 's just mad about the eating late business. Bon appetit!
We were wandering around late in the afternoon and stopped in for 'drinks only '. I got a glass of white wine, my husband red. We were checking out the other tables and noted an older Spanish couple to one side the man gave me a thumbs up sign, and pointed to his meal. His wife told me it was the ratatouille. It smelled incredible. My husband got the menu and ordered the ratatouille for me and Iberico ham with assorted sheep cheeses for himself. Both were delicious the ratatouille was hot and so flavorful!! The ham that my husband got was, hands down, the best we had in Spain so far (through Madrid, Segovia, Toledo and now Cordoba) and the cheese was aged and tasty (although we had bread and crackers, neither were needed the ham and cheeses just melted in your mouth). More wine, a huge bottle of water and when he saw how we had cleaned our dishes, and big smile from the manager. All for what we normally pay for an entree only at home. I wish we had stopped in here earlier
You have to order sausage, japuta and especially rice from the tail of the bull. rich, rich. de postre mousse de la casa
Lunch in this conveniently located taberna after spending the morning walking around discovering the delights of this wonderful town of Cordoba had, of course to include the local specialities of the battered fried aubergines in cane syrup (Berenjenas Sefardies) to start, followed by oxtail stew (Rabo de Toro) washed down with a refreshing glass of cold beer. This came to €17.10. Not the cheapest of meals, but given its touristy location it seemed fairly reasonable. The service was friendly and relaxed, the bar/restaurant is decorated with a number of bull-fighting and Flamenco posters in homage to local history. Definitely part of the Cordoba experience.
Delicious food and wine, with excellent friendly service. We hope to return to Cordoba. We will definitely come back here when we do.
